TISSNET 2021 Application Form

The application form of TISSNET 2021 will release in October by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) Mumbai. Interested applicants can apply online through the e-application process but the applicants who are from a remote place without any internet facility can get a printed copy of the form from the institute. The print out of the form has to be then sent via speed post with the application fee. Candidates need to fill in their details such as their personal details, academic qualifications and are also required to upload scanned images of some of the documents.

Any form which will be submitted after the last date will not be accepted. Those facing any technical issues while filling in the form may get in touch with the helpline 022-25525252 from Monday-Saturday, 9:00 am-7:00 pm). Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements will be able to fill in the application form. The form is available online as well as offline. Candidates also need to make sure that all the details in the form are correct as the candidates won’t get the option to modify/correct details later.

Step by Step Process to Apply for TISSNET 2021

Candidates can apply for TISSNET 2021 by following the instructions mentioned below. The application form for TISSNET is available in a single-mode:

  • Online

Note: Candidates filling the form offline (hard copy) have to post the above-listed documents along with the application form. The documents need to be attested by a school principal or a Gazetted officer. Forms without the above documents will be rejected and candidates will not be given any intimation for the same.

Now, let’s take a look at the application process for both online as well as offline mode 

Online Mode:

Step 1: Registration:

  • Candidates need to click on the official link for TISSNET 2021 registration.

  • Enter details such as email id and other details that are asked in the form.

  • After entering all the requisite details, click on the register tab.

  • Upon submission of the details, a TISS registration link is sent to the registered email id.

  • Click on that verification link.

  • After that, the link opens in a new tab where the candidates have to enter their name and the password of their choice.

  • Now, click on the 'Save' tab.

Step 2: Filling the TISSNET 2021 Application Form:

  • In this step, candidates have to login with their credentials such as Login ID and Password.

  • Click on Apply Now.

  • After logging in successfully, candidates can move on to the application form.

  • In the application form, all basic personal details and academic details have to be entered.

  • After completing each step, it is important to click on the 'Save' tab.

Step 3: Uploading of Documents:

  • After filling in the information, candidates have to upload their documents and scanned images of theur recent passport sized photograph in the prescribed format.
  • The file size for the photograph, signature and the other documents should not be more than 500 KB.

  • To upload the images, attachment type has to be selected from the drop-down. For example, a photograph, signature etc.

  • If the attachment has been uploaded successfully, a success message will be displayed.

  • After uploading the images, click on the 'Save' tab to move to the next step

  • Select the programs next.

  • For this, choose a location first and then the programmes which are offered from the selected locations in the dropdown and indicate the preference

  • All the selected programmes are shown in a table.

  • Note: Candidates can apply for a maximum of 3 programmes across any of 2 TISS Campuses or other locations.

  • Remove programmes by clicking on the remove programme link.

Step 4: Payment of Fees:

  • After filling the application form successfully, pay the application fee as per the suitable mode via online and offline.

    • In Online Mode: Payment by Credit/Debit Card and Net Banking.

    • In Offline Mode: Cash deposit in any of the designated branches of SBI using the prescribed challan

Step 5: Submission of Application Form: 

  • Finally, click on the 'Confirmation and Preview' tab.

  • After completion of this step, a preview of the application form is available.

  • Upon successful registration, candidates receive a confirmation mail on their registered ID.

Important Instructions 

  • Candidates need to keep in mind the following instructions for filling in the application form

  • Only a single form has to be used for applying to multiple programmes.

  • Filling in separate forms will lead to cancellation of all the forms

  • The maximum number of programmes a candidate can apply for are 3 across any 2 campuses of TISS-Hyderabad, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Chennai, and Mumbai

TISSNET 2021 Registration: Important points to Remember

Candidates appearing for TISSNET 2021 should be aware that they can apply for three programmes at the most. They will have to fill one single form for all three programmes and also pay together for all the programmes at the same time. If more than one form is found of the same candidate then his/her candidature will be cancelled. 

The TISSNET 2021 application fee can be paid online or offline through Credit card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking or through SBI bank Challan in case of the offline payment. Anything apart of the mentioned mode of payment would be cancelled or rejected. 

While applying for TISSNET 2021, the applicants will be given two options for the payment of the fee such as “Cash” or “Payment Gateway” for the payment to be made. If the candidate chooses “Cash” then he will have to download the Challan provided on the screen. The challan will have three copies attached to each other. Candidates will have to deposit the amount of cash mentioned on the challan in the State Bank of India. The bank will return two copies one for the student and other for the TISS with the bank’s seal, journal number and signature on it. The rest of the two copies will have to be uploaded on the official site.

TISSNET 2021 Application Submission

Candidates are advised to carefully read the eligibility criteria mentioned in the application form.

Candidates will have to upload the required documents in the prescribed format. The Institute also takes steps to have the Caste/Tribe/Non-creamy layer/ Income certificates verified by the competent authorities post-admission and those found to have submitted manipulated certificates at any stage of their study will be asked to leave the programme.

Applicants of TISSNET 2021 can apply for a maximum of three programmes across two of the TISS Institutes. Candidates must read the programme description carefully and know the programme carefully. Change of Programmes will not be allowed once the admission is done. 

Unemployed applicants or any candidate whose family annual income is less than 2.5 lakh and in case of ST/SC if the annual income is less than 1 lakh, then the candidate will have to pay Rs 250/- per programme

Candidates applying for more than one programme will have to fill one form only and will have to pay the entire amount together. Candidates not obeying this instruction will have their form cancelled. 


1. Does TISS offer campus placements?

Yes, for some programmes it does. For the new programmes, the process is in place for campus placement.

2. Will the PG Degree from TISS be recognised abroad?

Yes, it is.

3. How many times can you take the entrance exam?

You can give as many attempts as you want.

4. Where is the test conducted

There are more than 100 test centres in 39 cities. You can choose any one of the centres.

5. Any question bank available to prepare for the entrance?

No, there is no question bank available.

6. What is the cut-off for selection?

The minimum qualifying marks are 45% (General) for the written test and 35% for SC/ST. But just scoring qualifying marks in the written test won’t guarantee admission as admission is based on the merit list.

7. Is TISS affiliated with any University?

It is a Deemed University established under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.
