CMS 2020 Exam Pattern

The CMS 2020 exam pattern carries all the important information regarding the CMS 2020 exam such as the time duration, the total number of questions, sections, marking scheme etc.

For better exam preparation, the candidates must make sure that they understand the CMS 2020 exam pattern well. With a detailed knowledge regarding the exam pattern, the candidates will get a clear perception regarding the types of questions that will be asked in the exam and then prepare according to it. 

The detailed exam pattern for CMSE 2020 is available for the students to aid them in their exam preparation.

Highlights of CMS 2020 Exam Pattern

Here are some highlights of the CMSE 2020 exam pattern for the candidates’ benefit which will help them during the preparatory stages:

  • The CMS 2020 entrance examination will be conducted in two parts

  • Part I of the CMS 2020 entrance exam will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) for a maximum mark of 500

  • The Computer-Based Part I of the CMSE 2019 entrance exam will be further segregated into two Papers, i.e Paper I and Paper II

  • Each Paper will carry a maximum mark of 250 each

  • Both the Paper I and Paper II will be conducted over a duration of 2 hours each

  • There will be a total of 120 questions in the Paper I 

  • Questions based on General Medicine and Paediatrics will be asked in the Paper I

  • 96 questions will be from General Medicine whereas 24 questions will be from Paediatrics

  • Similarly, Paper II will contain questions based on Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Surgery and Preventive & Social Medicine

  • From each part, a total of 40 questions will be asked to the candidates

  • The question paper will be in MCQ format

  • To every question, there will be four options provided to the candidates out of which only one will be correct

  • 1/3rd of the total marks the question is carrying will be deducted for the wrong answer 

  • Questions with more than one entry will be treated as the wrong answer and negative marking will be applicable for the same

  • There will be no negative marking for the unattempted questions

  • The second part of the CMSE 2019 exam will be Personality Test

  • Candidates qualifying the CBT exam will be eligible for the Personality Test

  • The Personality Test will be for a maximum mark of 100

  • The Personality Test will test the candidates’ General Knowledge and ability in the field of academic study

Marking Scheme of CMS 2020 Exam Pattern

The CMS 2020 marking scheme will be regulated by the Commission as well as the qualifying marks for both the papers in the CMS 2020 entrance examination. The candidates will be negatively marked in case their answer does not match the accepted response. For every wrong attempt, the authorities will deduct 1/3rd of the total marks that the question carries. There will be only one correct answer out of the four options and if a candidate provides more than one response, it will be treated as a wrong attempt and the same negative marking rule will be applicable. The candidates will not be penalised for unattempted questions.
