CMSE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for CMSE 2019 is regulated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and the aspirants have to ensure that they fulfil all the CMSE 2019 eligibility criteria before they proceed further for the CMSE 2019 application process. The admission of the candidates will be subject to the candidates’ fulfilment of the CMSE eligibility criteria laid down by the concerned authority. If a candidate has been issued the CMSE 2019 Admit Card, that does not imply that his/her candidature has received a NOC from the Commission.

CMSE 2019 Detailed Eligibility Criteria

The CMSE 2019 detailed eligibility criteria include details such as the nationality of the applicants, the maximum age limit, educational qualifications of the applicants required in order to be eligible to apply for CMSE 2019 entrance examination. Eligibility Criteria



  • Indian Citizen

  • Subject of Nepal

  • Subject of Bhutan

  • Tibetan Refugee who migrated to India before January 1st, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India

  • Indian Origin candidates who have migrated from Burma/Pakistan/Sri Lanka/East African Countries etc. who have migrated to India with the intention of permanently settling here

  • The eligibility certificate of the candidates who are not an Indian Citizen must have been issued by the Government of India

Age Limit

  • The age of the applicants must be below 32 Years, as on 1st August 2019

  • The applicants born before 2nd August 1987 are not eligible to apply for CMSE 2019

  • SC/ST applicants will be given a relaxation of 5 Years in the Upper Age limit

  • OBC candidates will be granted a relaxation of 3 Years in the Upper Age limit

  • Applicants who had been ordinarily domiciled in J&K between 1st January 1980 and 31st December 1989 will be given a leverage of 5 Years in the Upper Age limit

  • Defence Service personnel who have been disabled in the battlefield will be granted a relaxation of 3 years in the Upper Age limit

  • Maximum of 5 Years relaxation in the Upper Age limit to Ex-Servicemen who served in the defence services for at least 5 Years as on 1st August 2019 and have not been discharged of their duty due to any misconduct/inefficiency/Physical Disability/Invalidment

  • Maximum of 5 Years relaxation in the Upper Age limit to the SSCOs/ECOs who have at least completed five years of service in the armed forces as on 1st August 2019 and extension in the assignment period by 5 years but have been issued with a certificate from the Ministry of Defence for Civil Employment

  • Maximum of 10 Years relaxation in the Upper Age limit for PwD candidates 

Educational Qualifications

MBBS students who have cleared their written and practical parts of the final examination

Medical & Physical Standard

The candidates must be medically and physically fit as per the fitness regulations of CMSE


  • Final Year MBBS examination appearing students are also eligible to apply for CMSE 2019 as well as students who have appeared in their final year exam but are yet to receive their result

  • The admission of such students will be provisional (also subject to cancellation) and only after submission of a valid proof stating that they have cleared both the written and practical examinations, their admissions will be finalised

  • Those students are also eligible for admission who have not completed their compulsory rotating internship provided that the candidates have to complete their rotating internship post selection
