Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test (UPTET) is a qualification test to get eligible to become a teacher in the governmental as well as aided schools in Uttar Pradesh. From this year onwards, UPTET will be conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC). This examination is conducted once a year, to shortlist the eligible candidates for the post of primary (Classes 1 to 5) and Junior school teachers (Classes 6 to 8) in the state.
UPTET is divided into two parts: Paper I and Paper II. The candidates who want to become government teachers for Classes 1 to 5 (Primary Schools) must qualify for Paper I while the candidates who want to teach Classes 6 to 8 (Junior) in government schools of Uttar Pradesh have to pass Paper II. After qualifying UPTET, a candidate has to appear for the recruitment test for particular governmental schools, conducted by the UP government, to finally become a teacher.
