Stages of IBSAT 2025 Selection Process

There are two components in the selection process for admission to the MBA/PGPM programme at the 9 IBS campuses in February 2026: Micro-Presentation and Personal Interview. Each component will carry a weightage of 25 marks. The Personal Interview round is conducted to evaluate the General Knowledge, communication skills, clarity of thought and expression along with the attitude and aspirations of the candidates, and their aptitude for a career in management. In this round, each candidate will be interviewed for 5-7 minutes. The Micro-Presentation component has been introduced to evaluate a candidate's communication and presentation skills, along with their ability to think and organize thoughts quickly and ensure a fair and consistent selection process.

Registration

  • Visit the official website once the cut-off is out.
  • A link is given on the official website during that time.

Selection Briefing

  • Before the IBSAT selection process, the IBS organises selection briefings in many cities across the country.
  • A selection briefing is just like a seminar, which is organized to provide the right information and guidance to candidates.
  • A selection briefing is mainly divided into 3 parts – an introduction to IBS, a briefing on the IBS Selection Process, and questions and answers. The experts at IBS answer all the questions of candidates and provide useful tips to prepare for Micro Presentation and PI.
  • Candidates can choose the venue, date, and time of the selection briefing at their convenience.
  • The selection briefing is organized only for qualified candidates. After the briefings, the process of Micro Presentation and PI will begin.

Micro Presentation (Previously Group Discussion)

  • After the selection briefing, shortlisted candidates will be called for a Micro Presentation at the IBS Hyderabad campus. Previously a Group Discussion round was conducted but the same has been replaced.
  • In this round, the candidates will be given a topic, and they must create a small presentation of three minutes.
  • The Micro Presentation is used to assess the candidate's communication skills, ability to solve problems, and ability to think on the spot in a short period. Candidates will be evaluated based on their ability to:
    • Think quickly and organise thoughts effectively
    • Present information clearly and concisely within the 3-minute time limit.
    • Exhibit the following qualities:
      • Communication skills
      • Logical reasoning
      • Relevance to the topic
      • Body language
      • Confidence
  • Candidates are required to select a number between 1 and 100 and a topic will be pre-assigned to each number. The candidate is provided with the corresponding topic when he/she selects a number.
  • Candidates will be given 1 minute to prepare and then deliver a 3-minute presentation.
  • A candidate has the privilege to choose a different number between 1 and 100 to request a second topic if they find the first one challenging.
  • It is compulsory for the candidates to choose between one of the two topics since they will not be given additional chances to choose a third topic.
  • There will be a randomization of the topics after each selection. A different topic will be allocated to a subsequent candidate, even if they select the same number.
  • Unlike the Group Discussion round, the Micro-Presentation is an individual exercise, in which only the presenting candidate will be allowed to speak. There will be no interaction or discussion among participants of the Micro-Presentation round. No questions will be asked to the candidates either during or after the presentation is delivered.
  • The topic assigned to each candidate must be presented before a batch of 9-11 fellow candidates and 2 Panel Members.
  • Candidates must have the habit of noting down key points or an outline during the 1-minute preparation time to structure their thoughts while delivering the 3-minute presentation.
  • They must master the ability to deliver the most critical and relevant information clearly and in a concise manner.

  • A personal Interview depends on the candidate's answers.

Who will be selected for admission in ICFAI Business School?

As you apply to ICFAI Business School, your selection is based on your overall profile—your academic record, entrance exam performance (such as ICFAI's own test or national exams like CAT, MAT, and XAT), and even your personal interview and group discussion at times. They seek students who display immense potential, leadership qualities, and an inclination towards business so that they are well-equipped to succeed in their fast-paced learning environment.

Is there a common selection process for all branches of ICFAI?

Yes, there is a uniform selection process for MBA admissions on all ICFAI Business School (IBS) campuses. Having qualified through IBSAT, CAT, NMAT, XAT, or GMAT, you will be called for a Micro Presentation and Personal Interview, with your previous academic records also taken into consideration. This clear and merit-based process is consistent across all branches, to make it fair and understandable for everyone.

How much weightage will be provided to the Group Discussion (GD) performance in IBSAT merit list?

When it comes to the IBSAT merit list, your Group Discussion (GD) performance carries a significant weightage of 25%. This means that alongside your academic records and interview, your GD skills play a crucial role in your final selection. Specifically, the merit list considers 10% for Class 10 marks, 15% for Class 12, 25% for graduation, 25% for GD, and 25% for the interview, making GD a key component you should prepare for seriously.

How will the merit list of IBSAT be prepared?

What are the stages for IBSAT selection process?

For IBSAT 2025, your selection process will consist of two primary stages following the entrance exam: a Micro Presentation and a Personal Interview (PI). The micro presentation examines your communication and quick thinking within a 4-minute time frame, while the PI assesses your personality and leadership abilities. Your previous academic performance also comes into play, with the final merit list determined from your IBSAT score, presentation, interview, and academics. This is normally done in February 2026 at IBS Hyderabad.
