The last date to register for the XAT 2026 exam has been extended to December 11 from its originally scheduled deadline of December 5, 2025. The registration process began on July 10, 2025. Students can fill out the XAT application form 2026 on the official website by following three easy steps: Registration for XAT, filling out the XAT application form, and fee payment. Step 1: Visit the Official Website 

To start the XAT application process 2026, candidates must visit the official website of XAT. On the homepage, applicants will find two options: “Register” and “Login.”

Step 2: Register Yourself

If you click on the 'Register' button, you will be redirected to a new page where you need to provide details like the Candidate’s Name, Email Address, Mobile Number, Password Choice, State, and City.

Step 3: Verify Your Email

Once you submit the details, you will receive a verification link on your email ID. Click on it and proceed to fill out the application form.

Step 4: Fill in Personal Details

On the dashboard, go to the Application Form tab and click on the 'Apply Now' button. The XAT application form will open on your screen, where you need to fill in details like:

• First, middle & last names of the candidate
• Email Address
• Mobile Number
• Date of Birth
• Age of the candidate
• Address details (like Country, State, District, City, Pincode)
• Gender
• Nationality
• Marital Status
• Blood Group
• PwD
• Parents' details (Father’s/Husband’s details and Mother’s details)

Candidates are also required to upload scanned copies of certain documents, such as passport-sized photographs and signatures. Candidates must be very careful while filling in the required information. When they are done with the process, they should click on the “Save and Continue” button.

Step 5: Fill in Academic Details

The next step is to fill in the academic details. These details include:

• Class 10 Details

1. State & City
2. Institute Name
3. Board
4. Year of Passing
5. Marking Scheme
6. Maximum Marks
7. Obtained Marks
8. Obtained Percentage/CGPA

• Class 12/Diploma Details
• Bachelor’s Degree Details
• Master’s Degree Details (If Any)

Once done, click the “Save and Continue” option to proceed with the XAT registration 2026.

Step 6: Fill in Work Experience Details

In this step of the XAT application 2026, candidates will have to enter the following work experience details (if any):

• Work Experience Status
• Employer’s Name
• Designation
• From and To Dates
• Service Duration (In Months)

It is to be noted that candidates can only enter their work experience by the stipulated deadline. Only full-time work experience after graduation will be considered. If the candidates have no work experience, they should just click on the “no” option and submit it by selecting the “Save and Continue” option.

Step 7: Fill in the Programme Preference

Candidates will also have the opportunity to choose the preferred course that they want to pursue at the XLRI campuses during the XAT registration process. The options for course selection include Business Management(BM), Human Resource Management (HRM), General Management Programme (GMP), and Fellow Programme in Management(FPM). Candidates will also have the opportunity to select the campus of their preference in the XAT application form 2026.  Once done with this step, candidates must click the “Save and Continue” option.

Step 8: Select XAT 2026 Test City

After filling out the required details, the next step in XAT registration 2026 is choosing a test city and test centre where a candidate would like to appear for the XAT 2026 exam.

Step 9: Pay Registration Fees

The application forms will not be considered to be submitted successfully unless the fee is paid by the candidates. They will be provided with two payment modes from which candidates can choose one. The options are - PayU and BillDesk. After selecting the payment mode, applicants must go through the declaration very minutely and click on the “I Agree” option. Candidates should then click on the submit option to proceed further. They can also choose the “preview” option to view the entire application form on the screen. Candidates will also have to pay extra money for choosing each XLRI program.

Mode of Payment:

• Online Payment Gateway: The application fees of XAT 2026 can be paid through VISA/ Credit, MasterCard, or Debit cards. Candidates can also pay through Net banking if they possess an account in IDBI Bank. Also, note that American Express Cards are not accepted.
• Cash Payment:The application fee of XAT 2026 can also be paid through the nearest branch of IDBI Bank by taking a printout of the XAT Pay-In-Slip.

XAT Registration 2026 - Retrieving Forgotten Enrollment ID or Password

If a candidate has forgotten the XAT password, he/she has the option to reset it on the online portal of the XLRI exam conducting body. The steps for resetting the XAT password are as follows:

• Go to the official website of XAT @xat online.in
• Click on the tab that says 'XAT Registration 2026'.
• Next, click on the ‘Forgot Password' tab.
• Enter the registered Email ID, Password, and captcha.
• Click on the tab that says ‘Get Password’.
• The updated XAT 2026 registration ID and password will be mailed to the candidate on the registered email ID.

When uploading the photograph and signature images, candidates must keep the following important things in mind:

Instructions for Photograph Image

• The picture should be a recent passport-size colour photo.
• Look directly at the camera with a relaxed facial expression.
• If flash is used, ensure there is no "red-eye" effect.
• If you wear glasses, ensure that there are no reflections and that your eyes are clearly visible.
• Caps, hats, and dark glasses are not permitted. However, religious headwear is allowed as long as it does not cover your face.
• If the picture is taken on a sunny day, have the sun behind you or position yourself in the shade to avoid squinting and harsh shadows.
• Make sure that the scanned image size is between 20 KB and 50 KB. If the file size exceeds 50KB, adjust the scanner settings, such as DPI resolution and number of colors, during the scanning process.

Instructions for Signature Image

• The applicant must sign on white paper with a black ink pen.
• The size of the scanned image should be between 20KB – 50KB.
• The signature will be used on the ADMIT CARD and wherever necessary.
• The signature must be signed only by the applicant and not by any other person.
• The applicant’s signature on the ADMIT CARD and attendance sheet at the time of the examination should match the uploaded signature. If there is a mismatch, the candidate may be disqualified.

How To Check XAT 2026 Application Status?

Since there is no limitation on the number of candidates who can appear for the XAT exam, your XAT application form 2026 is accepted as soon as you submit the application form with the correct information and pay the application fees. XAT Registration 2026: How Can I Change Test City Preference?

The candidates will be allowed to change their XAT 2026 test city preference in case they find that the chosen test city preference during the XAT registration does not suit them. Candidates can only change their XAT test city preference for the year 2026 one time. To change their test city preference, the candidates have to contact admis@xlri.ac.in through a written application which must also include the candidates’ Date of Birth, XAT ID, chosen test city, Father’s Name, and the name of the new test city preference. However, the final decision regarding the change of test city preference for XAT 2026 shall remain with XLRI.
