Maharashtra Common Entrance Test for MCA, popularly known as MAH-MCA-CET, is a state-level exam organised every year in the month of March. It is organised by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra for admitting candidates into the first year or second year lateral entry of PG degree courses in MCA in various institutes across the state of Maharashtra.

MAH-MCA-CET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are willing to take MAH-MCA-CET 2018 must carefully check whether they meet the desired eligibility criteria or not. The eligibility criteria is an essential aspect when it comes to the admission process. It is mandatory for candidates to satisfy the eligibility criteria to ensure that their applications don't get rejected and they get to appear for the examination. The eligibility criteria is stated as below:

Age:

There is no age bar for the examination.

Nationality:

Candidate should be an Indian citizen.

Academic Qualifications:

For Maharashtra State Candidature candidates and All India Candidature candidates, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidates:

For First Year Admission:

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification in any subject from a recognised university.

  • Candidate should have secured at least 50% marks in aggregate and 45% marks for Reserved (OBC /SC/ST/PWD) candidates.

  • Candidate should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects at Class 12 level or at Graduate level examination.

  • Candidates in their final year of qualifying examination are also eligible to apply for MAH-MCA-CET 2018 examination.

For Direct 2nd Year (Lateral Entry) Admission:

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications or Science (Information Technology or Computer Science) from a recognised university.

Children of NRI / OCI / PIO, Children of Indian workers in the Gulf countries, Foreign National:

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent qualification awarded by a University recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or Association of Indian Universities (AIU) in any subject with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

  • Candidate should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects in 12th or at Graduate level.

  • For DirectSecond year admissions, candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications or Science.

MAH MCA CET 2018 Exam Pattern

MAH MCA CET 2018 is a computer-based test (Online). Candidates appearing for the exam on March 24, 2018 should carefully go through MAH MCA CET 2018 exam pattern. MAH MCA CET exam pattern consists of the total number of marks, number of questions, subjects and marking system.

  • The questions from General Aptitude, Mathematics and Computer Concepts are asked in the entrance test.

MAH MCA CET Preparation Tips 2018

With just a week to go for the state-level MAH MCA CET 2018, it is time for candidates to buckle up and start preparing for the exam day. MAH MCA CET is conducted by DTE Maharashtra to provide admission to the candidates in the MCA programmes offered in the state of Maharashtra.

For those of you preparing for the upcoming MAH MCA CET 2018, keeping the following instructions in mind is necessary while appearing for the examination. Check out these last minute preparations tips to boost your performance!

Login Process after Allotment of Computer

  • When you're allotted a computer, you'll be able to see your personal details such as Name, Photograph, etc. appearing on the screen.
  • You will be required to enter his/her Username and Password as instructed in Admit Card as per the scheduled time, which is generally 10 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
  • Once you've entered your Username and Password, click on 'Sign In' button.

Follow the Instructions Carefully

  • It is extremely necessary to go through the instructions carefully. Important Instructions on your computer screen will provide all exam related information such as the number of questions and marking scheme.
  • The examination will begin as per the schedule and you will have to click on 'I am ready to begin' button in order to proceed.
  • As soon as you click on the 'I am ready to begin' button, the timer will start to help you keep track of the time.
  • As the timer starts ticking, you will keep getting an idea of the time left in completion of the examination.

Steps to Follow While Taking the Test

  • You will have to click on the Question number in the Question Palette available on the right hand side of the screen in order to go to that numbered question directly.
  • Next, you will have to choose any one answer out of the four options available on the screen. To select the answer, you will have to click on the circle button in front of your choice of answer.
  • If you wish to change the answer that you had already chosen, you will have to click on the circle button of another option. If you wish to cancel the answer, you will have to click on Clear response button.
  • It is mandatory that you click on the 'Save & Next' button in order to save your answer and move on to the next question.
  • If you wish to mark an answered question for review, you will have to click on the button 'Mark for Review & Next'. On marking 'Review', the answer of that particular question will be considered in the evaluation.
  • The 'Submit' button will only be available upon the completion of the exam time, and you don't have click on it as your system will automatically submit the test once the exam time is over.
  • Once the exam is submitted, you will be able to see your exam summary on the computer screen with details such as Subject Name, No. of questions answered, not answered, no. of questions/answers marked for review, and not visited.
  • You will on the 'Yes' button to confirm all the above mentioned details.

MAH-MCA-CET 2018 Counselling Process

MAH-MCA-CET 2018 counselling process will start in the 3rd week of June 2018. It is organised under the guidance of Commissioner, State CET Cell, Govt. of Maharashtra. DTE Maharashtra organises MAH-MCA-CET counselling through CAP (short for Centralized Allotment Process). There are three rounds in the CAP. The first two rounds of CAP are open to candidates from Maharashtra State and Outside of the Maharashtra State (OMS), the third round of CAP is done only for the candidates of Maharashtra state.

Candidates are advised to check their MAH-MCA-CET 2018 Result before they start with the registration for the MAH-MCA-CET 2018 counselling process. Those who have cleared the examination are considered to be eligible for the counselling session. These candidates must fill the online counselling application form and pay the requisite counselling fee.

Steps in MAH MCA CET 2018 Centralised Admission Process

  • Visit the official website.

  • On the official website, the category-wise seats in various institutes are displayed for CAP Rounds I and II.

  • Fill up the application form for CAP rounds.

  • After that, select the institution's priority in the decreasing order of preference.

  • After filling the preferred form, you will be allotted an institute by DTE authority.

  • You will have a choice to either ‘Freeze’ or ‘Float’ the seat allotted.

  • Once you accept the seat, you should visit the allotted institute for verification of documents and certificates.

  • The admission process finally completes after successful verification of documents.

First Round of Counselling:

  • You can fill the counselling application form with the course and institution of your choice.

  • Those of you, who are allotted seats after the 1st round of CAP, have to report to the allotted institute to confirm admission.

  • If you are not satisfied with the allotted seat, then you can wait for the following rounds of counselling.

Second Round of Counselling:

  • If you have not been allotted your preferred seat and if you are not satisfied with the seat allotted to you, then, in this case, you will be eligible for the 2nd round of counselling.

  • At the conclusion of second round of counselling, you have to report at the institute allotted to complete all the necessary procedures for confirmation of admission.

Third Round of Counselling:

  • The seats of any category or branch, which are not filled after the first two rounds of counselling, are made available for the 3rd round of CAP. These seats are treated as General category seats.

  • The third round of counselling is organised offline and is open only for candidates of Maharashtra state.

  • After successful allotment of seats, one has to confirm admission by reporting to the allotted institute on the scheduled day.

How to Apply for MAH MCA CET 2018

MAH MCA CET 2018 application form is available on the official website of DTE. MAH-MCA-CET 2018 application form can be submitted through online mode only. As part of the application process, aspirants of MAH MCA CET 2018 also have to pay the application fee. The major steps in filling the form are: Registration, Uploading of documents and Submission of application fee.

Steps to Fill MAH MCA CET 2018 Application Form

Registration:

  • Log on to the official website of the exam, www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in/mcacet2018/.

  • Once you visit the website, click on the option that says 'APPLY ONLINE'.
  • A new screen will open where you will have to select the tab 'Click here for New Registration' and enter your Name, Email ID and some other contact details.
  • Once you submit the required information, a Provisional Registration Number and Password will be generated by the system and displayed on the screen that you must note down. 
  • You will also receive an email & SMS indicating the Provisional Registration Number and Password.  

Filling the Application Form:

  • You must carefully fill and verify all your Personal as well as Academic details in the application form.

  • Out of all the locations available to appear for the entrance exam, choose the location where you wish to take the exam.

  • If you are not able to complete the application form in one go, you can choose 'SAVE AND NEXT' tab to save the data already entered. 

Uploading Documents:

  • In this step, you need to upload your Photograph and Signature.

  • It is important to follow the specifications outlined by the authorities before uploading the scanned documents.

  • In the application form, there are two separate links for uploading Photograph and Signature.

  • Click on the link 'Upload Photograph/Signature'.

  • Browse and select the location where the scanned Photograph/Signature files have been saved.

  • Then, select the files and click on the 'Open/Upload' tab.

  • In case the Photograph or Signature are not clear then, the application can be rejected.

  • After uploading the Photograph/ Signature in the online application form, you should check that the images are clear and uploaded correctly.

  • If the Photograph or Signature are not showing prominently, you can edit your application and re-upload your Photographs or Signatures, before submitting the application form.

Payment of Fees:

  • After uploading the documents, you have to submit the application fee. The application fee can be paid in online mode using Credit Card/Debit Card.

  • Enter the required details such as Card number, CVV and Name on the card.

  • Pay the application fee by clicking on the ‘Submit’ tab.
