The speculations surrounding a possible NEET Paper leak in 2024 made several headlines the previous year right after the NEET entrance exam was successfully concluded. Amidst these speculations, several theories revolving around the unusual total number of NEET top scorers, traces of burnt unauthorized NEET 2024 Question Paper, and hefty money transactions by the students in exchange of accessibility to the NEET Question Paper 2024 in advance came into the light. To summarize everything, while the NEET Exam conducting body, National Testing Agency (NTA) primarily denied all allegations of a possible NEET 2024 Question Paper Leak, the same was later proved at the Supreme Court after thorough investigations. While the NTA was enquired about the same, all claims were initially declined due to the lack of substantial evidence backing the rumours.
• Upon further investigations led by nationwide students’ protests, it came to light that multiple individuals claimed to have sold the access of the NEET 2024 Question Paper in advance to some of the students from Patna, Bihar and Gujarat, in exchange of a hefty INR 30 lakh per student. 
• Moreover, several NEET Exam Centres such as in Godhra, Gujarat, had instructed their students to leave out the answers of the questions they were not prepared for, in the promise of filling them out on their behalf later. 
• These prompted a CBI probe, led by the Supreme Court of India. On July 23, 2024, the Court acknowledged the NEET 2024 Question Paper leak and stated that an overall of 155 students had directly benefited from the same. While there were no signs of an overall systemic failure from the NTA, several individuals holding higher authority were involved in the NEET 2024 Question Paper leak. 
• To maintain the integrity of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduation (NEET UG), considered the biggest medical entrance exam in the country, the NTA along with the Government approval removed the grace marking and re-released the NEET UG 2024 Results on July 26, 2024, featuring a total of 17 NEET top scorers. 
• The NEET UG 2024 Exam was re-conducted for 1,563 affected students from the withdrawal of the grace marking, on June 23, 2024. Out of these, only 813 students had appeared for the re-exam of NEET UG 2024.
