To make sure that no student is either advantaged or disadvantaged by the difficulty level of the exam, the scores of SRMJEEE 2020 are calculated using the Normalisation Process. With the help of this process, the scores of candidates are normalized to compensate with varying difficulty levels of the exams.

Under the process of Normalisation, candidates are awarded two kinds of marks. The marks are:

1. Normalised Marks: Normalised marks of a candidate are the modified marks awarded to her/him after taking into account the relative difficulty level of her/his slot in comparison to the difficulty levels of the other slots of the same discipline.
2. Raw Marks: Raw marks of a candidate are the actual marks obtained by her/him in SRMJEEE 2020.

To calculate the SRMJEEE score, the percentile score of the candidates is used. With the help of the percentile score of a candidate that she/he will score in SRMJEEE 2020, the percentage of candidates who have scored below that candidate can be calculated. Mentioned below is the formula that is used to calculate the percentile score of a candidate in SRMJEEE.

100 (Number of Candidates in the Group with Aggregate Marks Less Than the Candidate / Total Number of Candidates in the Group)

Note -

  • If the slot of a group of candidates is calculated to be relatively difficult than the other slots of the same discipline, then the normalized marks of the candidates will be more than their actual marks.
  • If the slot of a group of candidates is calculated to be easier in comparison to the other slots of the same discipline, then the normalized marks of the candidates will be less than their actual marks.
