UPES DAT 2026 Counselling

UPES DAT 2026 Counselling will be conducted by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) for the final selection of candidates in both BDes and MDes programs. The official counselling schedule for the UPES DAT 2026 exam has not been released yet. Once announced, registered candidates will receive a counselling call letter on their email ID. The admission process will depend on the rank secured in the entrance exam and performance in further selection rounds. The counselling procedure generally includes personal interviews, portfolio evaluation, document verification, seat allotment, and fee submission. Final selection will be based on a candidate’s entrance exam score, interview performance, and overall evaluation during the counselling process.

The UPES DAT 2026 counselling process is a procedure followed after the result declaration and other selection rounds to finally grant admission to the students. Refer to the detailed counselling process below: 

Counselling for B.Des

Candidates must be aware of the UPES DAT 2026 counselling process for BDes programs, check out it below: 

• Step 1. Selection: Candidates who have qualified for the written entrance exam will be selected for the UPES DAT counselling. 

• Step 2. Counselling Round Call Letter: The ones selected will be sent a counselling round call letter on their registered email ID. 

• Step 3. Registration: Candidates are required to register for the counselling round on the official website of UPES. 

• Step 4. Counselling rounds: The counselling process comprises rounds such as personal interview, portfolio evaluation, and document verification. 

• Step 5. Shortlisting: The final shortlisting will be based on all the selection rounds such as entrance exam score, performance in PI and portfolio review, counselling rounds and seat availability. 

• Step 6. Allotment: Candidates can check out their admission status released by the conducting body on the official website. 

• Step 7. Report to College: Lastly, students have to report to the college for final admission confirmation. 

• Step 8. Fees: Candidates will also have to pay the course fee as prescribed by the conducting body within the designated dates as part of the UPES DAT counselling process.

Portfolio Requirements for B.Des Candidates

Candidates must check out the portfolio requirements for the BDes program as part of the UPES DAT 2026 counselling process: 

• Sketches: Students are required to bring along their sketches drawn by them using pencil, pen, colour markers or any other instrument.

• Drawings of any type: They can create drawings of nature, symbolic designs, experimental art, nature etc to present in the portfolio. 

• Pictures captured: Students can showcase the pictures/images clicked by them to increase their selection chances. 

• 2D or 3D work: Candidates can also present any experimentation on digital media, indicating the use of 2D or 3D digital media, tools and techniques for drawing, sketching and rendering. These samples can be carried by students to showcase their creativity.

• Physical model/prototype mode: They can also bring along a Physical Model or Prototype mode by using Clay, Plastic, Wood, cardboard etc to showcase their creative talent. 

Counselling for M.Des

Refer to the portfolio requirement for the MDes program as per the UPES DAT 2026 counselling process:

• Step 1. Selection: Candidates who qualify for the UPES DAT written entrance exam will only be called for the UPES DAT counselling. 

• Step 2. Register: They are required to register themselves online on the official website of UPES. 

• Step 3. Counselling rounds: The UPES DAT 2026 counselling will also include rounds such as personal interview, and portfolio evaluation for admission. 

• Step 4. Seat allotment: Candidates will be allotted seats based on the availability of seats in the MDes program. 

• Step 5. Report to College: Students have to report to the college to confirm their admission. 

• Step 6. Fees: Lastly, candidates have to pay the program fee to secure their seats.

Portfolio Requirements for M.Des Candidates

• Hand-drawn drawings: Students are advised to carry sketches and a variety of drawings which are hand-drawn by using various sorts of techniques and media such as colour markers and pencils. 
• Physical model or prototype: For the portfolio evaluation round, students can also bring along any physical model or prototype made by using fabrication or construction work to showcase their creative skills. 
• Digital work: They can also carry any sort of digital work (software) 2D or 3D like drawing, sketching and rendering using digital media, tools and techniques.

Candidates can easily book their slots for online mode personal interviews of UPES DAT 2026. Check out the details below:

• Step 1: Go to the official website of UPES. 
• Step 2: Tap on the ‘admission’ option and then click on the ‘admission alerts’. 
• Step 3: Search for the ‘online personal interview’ section in multiple options on the admission alert tab.

The UPES DAT 2026 counselling process includes a document verification round, verifying the candidate’s original documents. So, they have to present certain important documents during the counselling process such as:

• Only selected candidates will be called for the UPES DAT counselling process. 

• UPES follows a centralised counselling procedure. 

• All the important dates and details will be released on the official website of UPES. 

• The counselling process will be held after the result declaration. 

• The counselling round for the non-exam pathway i.e. through JEE, UCEED or CEED entrance exam scores will take place separately. 

• The counselling round call letter will be provided on the registered email ID of the student. 

• Students have to register for the UPES DAT counselling round on the official website. 

• Candidates will be shortlisted for the UPES DAT 2026 counselling process based on their rank, allotted to them based on their entrance exam scores and other selection rounds.
