JEE Main 2019 Inter–Se Merit List

While NTA will release the JEE Main 2019 Result determining the marks of the candidates scored in the examination, they will also have to look after the candidates scoring same marks in JEE Main 2019. This is identified when the rank list of the passed candidates is prepared. The list for Paper 1 (B.Tech and B.E) and Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning) will be prepared separately and then if the score of two or more candidates is same, an inter-se merit list will be determined based on parameters defined by the exam conducting authority. Candidates must also know that these parameters will be different for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 of JEE Main 2019. Let’s check out the inter-se merit list factors planned out for the candidates with the same score in JEE Main 2019.

Paper 1 (B.Tech and B.E)

  • The first parameter will be the marks scored in the Mathematics section of the paper. Candidate with a higher score in Mathematics will be ranked up in the list.

  • If there is a tie again, then, the marks of the Physics section will be considered as a tiebreaker. Higher the marks in Physics, higher will be the rank of the candidate.

  • In case if the candidates manage to match up all the marks, then the board will then consider the number of positive and negative marks obtained by the candidates. The one with the higher positive marks or absolute value will rank up then the other with less number of positive marks.

  • If this parameter also fails, then both the candidates will be awarded the same rank in the inter-se merit list.

Paper 2 (B.Arch and B.Planning)

  • First consideration will be the marks scored by the comparing candidates in the Aptitude Section of Paper 2. Test taker scoring higher marks in Aptitude section will be marked up in the inter-se merit list.

  • If this determinant fails to clarify the tie, then the marks of the Drawing section will be considered and the one scoring more in this section will be ranked up in the list.

  • The ratio of the positive and negative marks will be the third consideration in case the top two factors fall to be the same. The one with higher absolute value will be ranked up in the inter-se merit list.

  • If all of the above parameters are same, then both the candidates will be given equal rank on the list.

Post JEE Main 2019 Result Declaration

After the JEE Main 2019 Result Declaration, National Testing Agency (NTA) will release the cut-off list for the candidates who have cleared the examination. This list will help candidates to identify their position in the exam conducted. It will also help them to take admission in the recognised engineering institution of India. Candidates can then check the marks and compare their ranks released by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Other than these ranks and cut-offs, the participating colleges of JEE Main 2019 will also release cut-off lists for the purpose of admission into their various engineering courses. Once the list of candidates are finalized, the JEE Main 2019 Counselling Process followed by the admission process will start.
