IIT JAM 2019 Eligibility Criteria

IIT Kharagpur has set the IIT JAM 2019 Eligibility Criteria for all candidates who wish to apply for M.Sc. (two-year), Joint M.Sc.-Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degree, and other Post-Bachelor's Degree programmes. The eligibility criteria of IIT JAM 2019 will be different for the different programmes offered by the IIT JAM 2019 participating institutes. If a candidate is not found eligible as per the IIT JAM 2019 eligibility norms their admissions will be cancelled. Candidates must make sure that they check the eligibility criteria 2019 carefully before filling the  IIT JAM 2019 application form.

The eligibility norms of IIT JAM include requirements related to age, educational qualification, and qualifying marks of the candidates in their final exams and other information relevant for applying for the exam. Detailed IIT JAM 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria for IIT JAM 2019 before filling their respective application forms. 

Nationality: 

  • Indian and foreign national candidates can apply for IIT JAM 2019. However, the foreign nationals will need to satisfy the rules and regulations of the Admitting Institute(s) related to the foreign students.

Age Criteria: 

  • There is no restriction in the upper or lower age limit for IIT JAM.

Qualifying Exam: 

  • Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognised institute or university.

  • Candidates appearing in the final year of their graduation can also apply for the examination.

Minimum Marks:

  • A candidate belonging to General/OBC-NCL category and Foreign Nationals category must have 55% marks in his/her bachelor's degree.

  • For a candidate from SC/ST and PwD category, 50% marks in graduation is the requirement.

  • The proportion of marks in percentage will be adjusted by admitting colleges for those candidates having CGPA/ Letter Grades.

  • All the documents like qualifying bachelor's degree, Matriculation and 10+2 qualifying document should be submitted by September 30, 2019.

Category-Wise Eligibility Norm:

  • For General/OBC (NCL) category the minimum marks will be 55% marks or 5.5 out of 10 aggregate in languages and subsidiaries of all the years combined.

  • For SC/ST category the minimum marks will be 50% or 5.0 out of 10 aggregate.

M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering IITB  Applicant should have any one of the given subjects i.e Biotechnology, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology at the undergraduate level for four semester/two years and any one from the other subjects for at least two semester/one year.
 
Chemistry
(CY)
M.Sc. Chemistry IITI Applicant should have studied Chemistry at the undergraduate level for six semesters/three years. No Restrictions
IITB, IITD, IITG, IITGN, IITH, IITI, IITJ, IITK, IITM, IITP, IITR, IITRPR, IITISM, IITBHU, 
IIT Bhilai, IITPKD

Mathematics is mandatory in 10+2 standard.

Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Chemistry IITBBS, IITKGP
M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering IITB

Candidate should have any one of Biotechnology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics at the undergraduate level for four semesters/two years and anyone from the other four subjects for at least two semesters/one year.

Mathematics is mandatory in 10+2 standard
Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences IITBBS

It is mandatory for a candidate to have Mathematics and Physics at the UG level with any one of these subjects among Computer Science, Chemistry, Computer Application, Statistics, and Geology.

M.Sc. Applied Geology IITB, IITR Applicant should have a degree in Geology for six semesters/three years and any two subjects among Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Biological Science. Mathematics is mandatory in 10+2 standard
Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Geophysics IITKGP

It is a must for the candidate to any one of the subjects Mathematics and Physics with any one of these subjects among Computer Science, Chemistry, Computer Application, Statistics and Geology at the UG level.

Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Geology IITKGP, IITBBS
Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences IITBBS

It is a must for the candidate to any one of the subjects Mathematics and Physics with any one of these subjects among Computer Science, Chemistry, Computer Application, Statistics and Geology at the UG level.

Mathematics(MA) M.Sc. in Economics IITR

Mathematics is one of the main subjects at graduation level.

M.Sc. Mathematics IITB, IITD, IITGN, IITI, IITJ,IITK, IITM, IITP, IITR, IITRPR Candidate should have Mathematics at least for four semesters/two years at the UG level.
M.Sc. Mathematics/ Mathematics and Computing IITH
M.Sc. Mathematics and Computing IITG
Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Mathematics IITBBS, IITKGP Mathematics/ Statistics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters.
M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Operations Research IITB
M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering IITB Candidate should have any one of Biotechnology, Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics for four semesters/two years at the UG level and any one of the other four subjects for at least two semesters/one year/two semesters. M.Sc. Physics IITP Candidate should B.Sc./B.S. degree with physics as major/main/honours subject and mathematics for 2 years/4 semesters. / B.Tech in Engineering Physics at UG Level No Restrictions
IITB, IITD, IITG, IITGN, IITH, IITI, IITJ, IITK, IITM, IITR, IITRPR, IITISM, IITBHU, IIT Bhilai, IITPKD Candiadte should have Physics for at least four semesters/two years and Mathematics for at least two semesters/one year at the undergraduate level.

M.Sc.(Tech) in Applied Geophysics IITISM Candidates should have B.Sc Degree (3 yr.) with Physics as Honours/ Main/ Major/ Equivalent subject, Mathematics as a subsidiary subject for four semesters/two years and another subsidiary subject from Chemistry, Electronics, Statistics and Geology for two semesters/one year.
Joint M.Sc.- Ph.D. in Geophysics IITKGP Candidate should have studied Geology/physics for three years/six semesters and any two subjects among Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Mathematics is the main subject in graduation
M.Sc.- Ph.D. Dual Degree in Environmental Science and Engineering IITB Anyone of Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics for two years/four semesters, and any one of the other four subjects for at least one year/two semesters

Medical Criteria:

  • Candidates with or Uni-ocularity and color blindness are not eligible to apply.

  • For doing fieldwork, candidates in the PwD category should be able to walk without any assistance.

Note: If a candidate is found to have furnished wrong details, the admitting institute has the authority to cancel the admission, at any time.
