IIT JAM Shift Timing 2026

IIT JAM 2026 will be conducted on February 15, 2026 in two shifts on a single day i.e., morning shift and afternoon shift. IIT JAM will be held for Chemistry (CY), Physics (PH), Mathematics (MA), Biological Sciences (BL), or Mathematical Statistics (MS) in Shift 1 and for Geology (GG), Biotechnology (BT), Economics (EN), Environmental Science and Engineering (ES), or Statistics (ST) in Shift 2.

Permissible Items at IIT JAM Exam Centres 2026

Here is a list of things you can carry at the IIT JAM 2026 exam centre:

Items prohibited at IIT JAM 2026 Exam Centre

We highly recommend students avoid carrying the below-mentioned items at IIT JAM 2026 exam centres:

1. Electronic devices such as mobiles, electronic pens, scanners, cameras, tablets, or calculators
2. Stationery items like rulers, scales, writing pads, pencil boxes, geometry boxes, sharpeners, erasers, etc.
3. Any food items and food containers like thermos
4. Accessories such as headgear, bags, belts, goggles, wallets, purses, etc
5. Devices such as smart watches, Bluetooth, fitness bands, earphones, etc

IIT JAM Exam Centres 2026: Code of Conduct

All candidates appearing for JAM 2026 are required to strictly adhere to the following guidelines:

• Students must carry their IIT JAM Admit Card 2026 and a valid original photo ID to the exam centre. Entry will not be permitted without these documents.
• Candidate’s fingerprints and photographs may be captured before the exam. This data will be used for verification during admission. To ensure a smooth process, avoid any coating (such as ink, mehendi, henna, or tattoos) on fingertips and have clean fingers on the exam day.
• Mobile phones (even if switched off), smartwatches, calculators, and other electronic gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the examination hall.
• Carrying any device that can be used for communication or other purposes, as well as any printed, scanned, or handwritten materials, is not allowed in the IIT JAM 2026 exam centres.
• All means of communication (verbal or otherwise) between candidates inside the examination hall are strictly forbidden.
• Students should not tamper with the computer or any related hardware provided in the exam centre. Willful tampering will lead to immediate cancellation of candidature.

Use of unfair means by any student during JAM 2026, whether detected at the time of the examination or at any stage afterward, will result in the cancellation of their candidature and disqualification from appearing in future IIT JAM exams.
