Around 4-6 questions will be asked from MAT Intelligence & Critical Reasoning focusing on 2-3 statement conclusions. The formats based on which maximum questions will be asked from this section are as follows:

• The most common pattern is 2-Statement Conclusions with a 50%+ weightage in which two premises will be provided, for instance, "All A are B. Some B are C.", with 2 conclusions, and you are required to check if I/II/both/either/neither follow using Venn diagrams.
• The second common pattern is Possibility Cases, for example, "Some X can be Y" or "No X is Y is a possibility". To master this, you must practise complementary pairs like "Some + No" for either-or scenarios.
• Another high-weightage pattern is 3-Statement Chains with extended logic like "All P are Q; Some Q are R; All R are S". These questions assess definite vs. possible conclusions.
• Lastly, questions will also be found on "Only a Few" or Reverse where statements like "Only a few A are B" must be treated as "Some A are B + Some A are not B". Do not answer the questions based on assumptions beyond the given information.

For 70-80% coverage in MAT 2026, you must focus on the following topics across CBT/ PBT/ IBT modes.

• Seating Arrangements/ Puzzles (linear/circular, floor-based): 8-12 questions
• Syllogisms: 4-6 questions out of which 2-3 are statement conclusions
• Coding-Decoding (letter/ number/ symbol patterns): 4-6 questions
• Blood Relations/ Direction Sense: 3-5 questions each
  

The overall difficulty level of the MAT 2026 Intelligence & Critical Reasoning (ICR) section is moderate. Series and direction sense (3-4 questions each) are easy topics with occasionally tougher questions, and 20-25 questions can be attempted in 25-30 minutes. 40% of the topics are easy that include Series/Sequences, Direction Sense, Analogies. 50% of the topics are of Moderate diffiiculty level including Syllogisms (3-4 Qs), Blood Relations (8-10 Qs), Coding-Decoding. 10% of the topics are difficult that include Critical Reasoning (assumptions/ cause-effect, 4-5 Qs).
