When applying for MBA or PGDM admission at government colleges that accept the CMAT, the eligibility requirements are the first condition that applicants must fulfill. At the very beginning of the screening process for MBA/PGDM admissions, a candidate's application will be rejected for not meeting the eligibility requirements. Do CMAT accepting government colleges have a common counselling process?

No, the NTA does not have a centralised counselling process for admission to government colleges based on CMAT scores. The CMAT-accepting government colleges conduct group discussions and one-on-one interviews according to their own schedules. The majority of institutions accepting CMAT scores conduct group discussions and individual interviews for admission, depending on the criteria used at that particular institute. Even the cutoff criteria for CMAT counselling are released separately. Candidates should therefore check the required cutoff percentile on the website of their preferred institute before submitting an application for MBA/PGDM admission.

What are the factors that determine the CMAT cutoff for government colleges?

Each participating institution that accepts CMAT scores for admission will release CMAT cutoffs separately, including government colleges and B-schools. There are several factors that affect the CMAT cutoff. The participating institutions in CMAT 2023 will base their release of the cutoff on the following criteria:

  • Total Number of Candidates who appeared for CMAT
  • The difficulty level of the CMAT question paper

Is there a sectional cutoff requirement for MBA/PGDM admission through CMAT?

Is it possible to seek MBA admission at CMAT accepting government colleges with less than 50% aggregate marks in graduation?

No, securing a minimum aggregate marks of 50% in the Bachelor’s degree is the basic requirement for MBA admission. Although, candidates with less than 50% aggregate score in graduation are qualified to take the CMAT exam since there is no minimum graduation score needed to take the CMAT exam. Candidates only need to have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, or a comparable degree. However, in order to be admitted to MBA programs, candidates must maintain a minimum grade point average of 50%. The minimum graduation score requirements for most government MBA colleges are 50% overall (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

What is the acceptance of CMAT?

More than 1500 AICTE-approved B-Schools in India, including many prestigious management institutions like GIM Goa, K J Somaiya, Great Lakes, IMT Nagpur, BIMTECH, and JIMS, will accept the CMAT score for MBA/PGDM admission. These colleges use CMAT scores to narrow the applicant pool for admission. Both government and private institutes in India accept the CMAT exam for management admissions.

Is MBA/PGDM admission possible with less than 90 percentile in CMAT?

Yes, MBA/PGDM admission is possible with less than 90 percentile in CMAT. Some of India's top MBA schools may accept applicants with CMAT percentiles between 80 and 90. Candidates will have a good chance of enrolling in popular MBA programs that will accept CMAT scores between 80 and 90 if their score falls within this percentile range. Dear Student, Admission to Holy Mother PG College is done through TS ICET exam based on which cutoff is released every year. Holy Mother P.G. College cutoff 2023 has not been released yet. However, as per previous years cutoff, the closing rank was 34106. So, we can expect Holy Mother P.G. College cutoff 2023 to be in between 34105 to 34110. Since your rank is closer to this range, there might be a possibility that you will be eligible for 2nd phase counselling. However, you should wait for the official cutoff to be sure.
