MICAT 2020 Syllabus

There is no official MICAT Syllabus released by the conducting authority i.e MICA. Based on MICAT Previous Year Question Papers and Sample Paper, the section-wise topics have been provided. Almost every management exam has the same syllabus but MICAT is slightly different. Apart from Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and General Awareness, it has a Psychometric Test, Divergent and Convergent Thinking, and Descriptive Test. In order to qualify in this examination, candidates have to prepare for the same in an organised and systematic manner.

Candidates preparing for MICAT must cover every topic thoroughly in order to score well in the exam. MICAT is not conducted just to offer admission to PGDM-Communications programme of MICA Ahmedabad but it is also a test of candidates' overall ability and skills. So, the candidates who have decided to give the upcoming exam must start preparing after checking the detailed MICAT 2020 Syllabus.

MICAT 2020 Section-wise Syllabus

Psychometric Test: Candidates must try and answer all the questions asked in this section. Through the Psychometric Test, candidates’ characteristics and behavioral traits are tested in the exam.

Verbal Ability: This section tests candidates' Grammatical skills and Vocabulary, and questions are based on topics such as:

Sentence correction Tenses Pronouns Synonyms and antonyms
Fill in the blanks Analogies One word substitution Jumbled paragraphs and sentences
Articles Vocabulary Idioms and Phrases Reading Comprehension passage
English usage or Grammar      

Quantitative Ability: This section tests candidates' mathematical skills, and the questions are based on topics like:

Numbers Ratios and Proportion Trigonometry Geometry
Heights & Distance Profit & Loss Percentages Time-Speed-Distance – Work and time
Averages HCF – LCM Geometric Progression Arithmetic progression
Number system Arithmetic mean Geometric mean Harmonic mean
Median Mode Number Base System Simple Interest & Compound Interest
Venn Diagram Probability Permutations & Combinations Vectors
Binomial Expansion Coordinate geometry Logarithm Calendar
Maxima & Minima Progression      

General Awareness: In this section, candidates’ knowledge about current affairs is tested. So, they must enhance their knowledge to score well in this particular section. Questions are mostly asked from the following areas:

Business Current Affairs Companies Geography
Marketing Advertising Sports Politics
Indian Constitution Authors and Literature Science & research History
Media Finance    

Divergent-Convergent Reasoning: This section tests candidates' Reasoning Ability, and questions are based on:

  • Data Sufficiency

  • Sequence and Series

  • Statement – Assumption

  • Visual Reasoning

  • Word Association

Descriptive Test: In this section of the exam, Descriptive questions are asked, which evaluate candidates' creative writing skills. To perform well in this section, candidates must develop a flair to write creatively.
