What is MAH MBA CET CAP?

MAH MBA CET CAP is the state-level counselling process conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra, for admission to the first year of MBA/MMS colleges in Maharashtra. Candidates applying for Maharashtra State or All India Candidature or any other category have to apply for the MAH MBA CET 2026 CAP for admissions in Maharashtra, except for admission in the Institution Quota (Management Quota) seats, which are offered via direct admissions. All of the top management institutions in Maharashtra are bound to offer admissions under the MAH MBA CET 2026 CAP as per the norms set by the Maharashtra Government.

  • Under this process, candidates who clear the MAH MBA CET exam must register online for CAP at the State CET website.
  • Candidates must fill out the CAP form mentioning their academic details, MAH CET score, and preferred courses/colleges.
  • CAP cut-offs and merit lists are released in two rounds.
  • The State CET allots seats to candidates at their preferred colleges based on cut-offs fixed by the admission authorities.
  • Those who are allotted seats are then required to visit the college and complete the admission process within the stipulated time.

MAH MBA CET Normalization Process 2026

The examination conducting body uses the MAH MBA CET normalisation process to compare candidate scores across multiple shift papers. This process is comparable to those used in other Indian MBA entrance exams. The MAH MBA CET is divided into numerous sessions over three days, with two sessions each day. While preparing the merit list, the examination authority does not simply compile the candidates' scores based on the sum of their correct and incorrect answers. Instead, they use score normalisation to ensure all candidates are graded on the same scale.

This is necessary because one session of a multi-session exam can be slightly easier or harder than another. The MAH CET score normalisation process ensures that no candidate is in a favourable or unfavourable position when the MAH MBA CET result and merit list are prepared. In MAH CET MBA/MMS, the percentile score, calculated up to seven decimal places, is used as the Normalised Score instead of the raw scores of the candidates. The formula for percentile score calculation is:

100 x (No. of candidates in a session with raw score ≤  the candidate’s score)
Total number of candidates in the session
