How to Calculate Marks with GATE AI Answer Key 2026?
Once you have your response sheet and the answer key, you can use the official marking scheme to estimate your possible score. Here is how you can calculate your marks with GATE AI answer key 2026:
Step 1: Check your responses against the official answer key and record the following:
- Number of correct answers (1-mark and 2-mark separately)
- Number of incorrect MCQs
Step 2: Use the formula below to calculate your estimated raw score:
Total Marks = (Correct 1-mark × 1) + (Correct 2-mark × 2) – Negative Marks
Where,
Negative Marks = (Incorrect 1-mark MCQs × 1/3) + (Incorrect 2-mark MCQs × 2/3)
Step 3: Estimate your normalised score
Once your raw marks have been calculated, you can estimate your normalised score (if applicable). Normalisation is carried out if the exam is administered in more than one session.
The official GATE score is calculated out of 1000 with the use of a normalisation formula released by the conducting IIT. Even if actual scores may differ slightly because of normalisation, you can get a clear picture of your performance from your predicted score.
