About KMAT 2018

Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT) is a national-level entrance test conducted by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA). The pen-paper based exam is conducted for candidates who wish to pursue postgraduate programmes such as MBA, PGDM, and MCA. By qualifying the KMAT exam, candidates can get admission in more than 169 AICTE-approved B-schools in Karnataka. These affiliated institutions of Karnataka are counted in the list of well-known B-schools of India. Candidates from India and abroad can sit for KMAT 2018.

KMAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants of KMAT 2018 should check eligibility criteria before starting with any processes. To apply for KMAT 2018, candidate have to meet the KMAT eligibility criteria mentioned by the Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA). The basic criteria is to have a qualifying bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution with at least 50% marks. The eligibility for MBA, PGDM and MCA to appear for KMAT 2018 are given below:


  • Candidates should have a 3-year bachelor’s degree with at least 50% if the candidate falls in the general category and 45% marks if the candidate is of SC/ST category.

  • Candidates who are in the final year of their bachelor’s degree are also eligible for KMAT 2018. 

  • Candidates having Master's degree in any of the education fields such as Management, Commerce, Arts,  Engineering/Technology Social Sciences, or equivalent are also eligible for KMAT 2018.

For MCA:

  • Candidates should have a 3-year bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks at 10+2 level and at graduation level. 

  • Candidates should have Mathematics in their last qualifying exam.

KMAT 2018 Syllabus

The KMAT 2018 Syllabus defines the subjects and topics that must be prepared for appearing in the KMAT 2018 examination. The syllabus for KMAT 2018 mostly comprises the basic management exam pattern. The sections are almost the same as any other management exam. Sections like Quantitative Ability and Logical Reasoning are a part of KMAT 2018. A brief description of the syllabus is given below for candidates to start their preparation for KMAT 2018.

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension

  • The questions in this section focus mainly on the candidates’ understanding of English language and it has sub-sections based on vocabulary, grammar, synonyms, comprehension of passages, sentence completion, antonyms, etc. 
  • Comprehension passage is one sub-section with questions based on an understanding of the contents of the passages and choice of appropriate words, phrases, expressions, and similar language skills. 

Logical and Abstract Reasoning

  • This section includes the questions to measure how quickly and accurately you can think. 

  • The section includes questions in sets as well as individual ones based on verbal reasoning, and analogy.

Quantitative Ability

  • The questions of this section are framed to know how fast and accurate a candidate can work with numbers, do numerical calculations, understand various arithmetic problems involving interest, ratio & proportion, percentage, time & speed etc. 

  • Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, and parts of mathematics based on class 10th syllabus are also a part of this section. 

  • This section consists of questions based on the power of interpretation of tables, common graphs & charts, and quantitative reasoning.

KMAT 2018 Exam Pattern

KMAT 2018 Exam Pattern is all about what and how the examination paper will look like. Candidates should be aware of the pattern to be able to understand the style and structure of questions that will be asked in the examination. Exam pattern of KMAT 2018 gives an idea of the number of questions, sections of the paper, duration of examination, total marks, marks allotted to each question, negative marking (if applicable), language in which the paper is published and language in which the candidates are allowed to answer. KMAT 2018 Result

KMAT 2018 Result will be announced by the KPPGCA on the official portal of KMAT. The KMAT 2018 result date will be announced soon. To check the KMAT 2018 Result, candidates must know their Application Number and Password to login into the official website of KMAT. Only after entering the date of birth and application number, candidates can check their result. Once the scorecard pops up on the screen, candidates can download it and take a print out of it.

The scorecard or the result shows the name of the candidate, roll number and marks scored section-wise. The scorecard has a validity of one year. It is an important document for candidates to claim their seats in the colleges of Karnataka. KMAT 2018 Counselling Process

The counselling schedule for KMAT 2018 exam will be declared on the official website of KMAT. Candidates who meet the cut-off scores of KMAT 2018 will be called to attend the KMAT 2018 Counselling Process. On the basis of KMAT 2018 Result, the institutes prepare final merit list featuring the names of the qualified candidates. Candidates who are listed in the final merit list will be called for KMAT 2018 counselling.

KPPGCA will conduct more than one session of KMAT 2018 counselling for all the selected candidates. The candidates who fail to attend the 1st session of counselling will not be permitted to register for 2nd and other sessions of counselling. The final selection of candidates for KMAT 2018 will be based on parameters like the score of KMAT 2018, marks of last qualifying exam and marks of the main subject scored in bachelor degree.

KMAT 2018 Counselling/Selection Procedure

The KMAT 2018 counselling/selection procedure will give candidates an insight into the process followed and will also help candidates to know about important pointers that should be kept in mind while appearing for the counselling process.

  • The KMAT 2018 selection process will also include Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

  • Based on the marks obtained in the KMAT 2018, GD and PI, candidates will be allotted with seats in the various participating colleges.

  • At the counselling center, candidates are asked to mark and confirm their ranks based on the merit list released by KMAT.

  • Candidates are advised to select the counselling center carefully, as no changes will be made once the center is finalised.

  • Original certificates and mark sheets are to be presented at the time of counselling. Downloaded documents shall not be entertained.

The documents to be carried at the time of KMAT counselling should be self-attested. Candidates must carry documents in original and photocopies. Taking an extra set of photocopies is recommended to avoid any kind of delay at the time of counselling. The documents needed for KMAT counselling are:

KMAT 2018 Admit Card

The release date of KMAT 2018 admit card has been announced. It is to be available on the official website of KMAT from 12th October 2018. Candidates are required to visit the official website and login with candidate application number and password to avail the admit card of KMAT 2018. Steps to Download KMAT 2018 Admit Card

  • Go to the official website of KMAT.

  • On the ‘Home’ page, go to the candidate login section and provide your application number and password.

Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) is the conducting body of KMAT 2018. KPPGCA was established in 2003, for providing admission in MBA, MCA, PGDM courses in various recognised and self-financing colleges in the Karnataka state. KMAT is approved by Karnataka government. KPPGCA was formed to support vocational and professional courses and to streamline and facilitate admission to these postgraduate subjects. All the colleges in Karnataka that offer postgraduate courses are liable to accept the score of KMAT for admission into MCA, MBA and PGDM. Candidates, however, should know that the score of KMAT alone cannot confirm their admission into the postgraduate courses. There are few more parameters when it comes to finalising candidates.
