About UPSC ESE 2019

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Engineering Services Exam (ESE) 2019, popularly known as IES (Indian Engineering Services) or ESE, is a national-level examination conducted for engineering graduates. Engineers after clearing this examination will be designated as Class-1 Officer under the Government of India. The selected Class-1 Officers will be responsible for public sector economy, which comprises of Indian Railways, Central Water Engineering, Telecommunications, Defence Service of Engineers, Central Engineering Service, etc. The recruitment in the Indian Engineering Services undergoes three stages of examination. The first stage of ESE, commonly known as Preliminary/Stage‐I Examination, will be held on 6th January 2019 by UPSC.

UPSC ESE 2019 Eligibility Criteria

One of the most important things that candidates should do before applying for the entrance exam is to check the eligibility criteria of UPSC ESE 2019. The conditions to become eligible to take the exam may include age limit, nationality, educational qualifications, reservation policy, etc. The eligible candidates should be aware of the documents that they have to submit. In case the candidate fails to fulfill the eligibility criteria, he/she by any means will not be entertained by the authority. There are some important points to keep in mind to match the eligible criteria for UPSC ESE 2019.

  • Candidates must have an Engineering Degree acquired from a recognised college or university.

  • Candidates with M.Sc degree in Electronics, Wireless Communication and Radio Physics can apply for selected posts in IES (Indian Engineering Services).

  • Applicant must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or a subject of Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who has come to India before 1 st January, 1962.

  • It is important for candidates to know that, the certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India is a must for Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan and other migrated candidates.

  • The age limit of the candidates must not be less than 21 years and more than 30 years.

UPSC ESE 2019 Exam Pattern

The UPSC ESE 2019 exam pattern gives students an idea of how exactly the paper will be framed. After clearing the Stage-I Preliminary Examination, the candidates will appear for Stage-II Mains Examination. If the candidate fails to clear the exam, then he/she will not be allowed to sit for the Mains. Prelims are further sub-divided into Paper 1 and Paper 2 Similarly, for Mains there are subdivisions Paper 1 and Paper 2. Candidates who will clear Stage-I and Stage-II will be eligible for Stage-III.  Stage-III is the Personality Test round, which is the interview round of ESE.

How to Prepare for UPSC ESE 2019

It is important for the candidates to study the subject matter well.  For UPSC ESE, candidates should have a good hold on subject matters related to engineering especially on terms and phrases for the specific engineering branch selected by the candidate. UPSC ESE 2019 Result

The Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) will announce the result of the Indian Engineering Service (IES) Preliminary Exam 2019, which will be conducted on 6th January 2019. The roll numbers of the shortlisted candidates will be released by UPSC as part of the result announcement. Candidates who clear the Prelims become eligible for IES Mains Examination. 

How to Check UPSC ESE 2019 Result 

  • Results are declared online on the official website of UPSC.

  • Go to the ‘IES Final Result’ link on the website.

  • A dialogue box will appear with the PDF file of the result. 

  • Download the PDF file.

  • Check for your name and roll number in the PDF file.

  • Selected candidates receive an email from UPSC stating their selection for the next round of examination along with the link of the e-admit card for Satge-II Mains Exam.

  • The same procedure will be followed to check the result of the Stage-II Mains Exam.

  • Candidates selected in the second stage will be eligible for the Personality Test round, which is the final round for IES/ESE 2018. 

UPSC ESE 2018 Cut-off

Cut-off is the minimum marks that the candidate should score in order to get selected for the next level of examination. A cut-off list will be released after the declaration of the Mains Exam Result. The overall UPSC ESE 2019 cut-off for final recommendation will be based on performance of the candidates in Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam and Personality Test. The cut-off marks for UPSC ESE 2019 will approximately be 15% of the total marks.

UPSC ESE 2019 Selection

The selection of the candidates for Indian Engineering Services 2019, will be based on the three stages of examination of the candidates. These stages include the Preliminary Test, Mains Exam and the Personality Test. Candidates who clear these stages will be eligible for the different posts under Indian Engineering Services (IES) of Government of India. The recruitment process will consist of written tests followed by personal interviews. 

The first stage is the Preliminary Examination, which will consist of two sets of written exams Paper-1 and Paper-2 for the aspirants of UPSC ESE 2019. Candidates who clear this stage can sit for the next stage. The next stage of written examination is the Mains Exam, which will also have two sets of exam Paper-1 and Paper-2. UPSC ESE Admit Card 2019

UPSC ESE admit card 2019 (Prelims exam) will be released by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in the month of December 2018. UPSC ESE is conducted in three phases – Preliminary, Main and Personality Test and the admit card for each phase is released separately. UPSC ESE 2019 (Prelims exam) is scheduled to be held on January 6, 2019 and and the admit card of UPSC ESE 2019 will be available in online mode. In order to access the admit card, candidates have to visit the official website of the UPSC.

  • Visit the official website of UPSC i.e. www.upsc.gov.in.
