CLAT Application Form 2021

CLAT is organised for both undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes and before beginning with the CLAT application process, candidates must check the detailed CLAT Eligibility Criteria. Firstly, the candidates need to note that it is not mandatory to send the hard copy of the CLAT application form to the CLAT office or exam conducting authority/ NLU. At the same time, the candidates will not be allowed to make changes or edit the application form after submission. Once the application form is submitted, the candidates can retain the printout of CLAT application form.

The CLAT application process involves registration, filling up the form, paying the requisite amount and uploading the required documents along with the important instruction to be followed until the examination gets over.  While filling CLAT application form 2021, candidates will be required to provide a number of details including personal, academic and address. Once the candidates successfully complete the registration process, they are allotted a system-generated user ID and password, which is sent to their registered email ID. With these login credentials, the candidate can fill the application form and submit it before the last date of registration.

Note: Candidates must carefully fill in the details with no mistakes and cross-check before clicking on the submit button.

    • A valid email address and contact details

    • A computer system /laptop with good internet connectivity 

    • A recent photograph in the prescribed size and format

    • Mark-sheets or Degree certificates (10th, 12th and graduation or any other higher qualification).

    • Scanned copy of caste certificate (for SC/ ST/ SAP candidates) in PDF format only.

    • Domicile Certificate in support of candidate's claim for consideration under State Quota

    • Credit/debit/Net banking details, in case the payment of CLAT fees is online.

    Step by Step Process to Apply for CLAT 2021

    The detailed process to fill the CLAT 2021 application form -

    Step 1: Registration:

    • Visit the official website of CLAT.

    • Click on 'New Registration' under 'Registration Info' section.

    • Register yourself by providing asked details.

    • Enter required details including Name, Parents' Name, Date of Birth and Email Id.

    • A Provisional Registration No. and Password will be sent to the registered email and mobile. Use these credentials to log in to fill the online application.

    • You are now ready to login an get access to the CLAT 2021 Application Form.

    Step-2: Fill the Application Form:

    • In this step, you have to fill the following details mentioned below:

    • Personal details such as  Date of Birth, Gender, Age, Nationality, Marital status, Parents’ Name, and Correspondence Address, postal address, Contact details.

    • Next, you have to fill programme choice applying for, choose any one program i.e. Undergraduate or Postgraduate.

    • Then, provide education details such as class 10, Class 12, Graduation details, Master/PG Details, Experience details etc.

    • Enter the State of Residence, the State of Domicile, State of Nativity, Percentage of Disability (if applicable), University Category, Exam City Preference, etc.

    • Note: You have to fill your preference order for all nineteen NLUs.The same preferential choices will be considered during CLAT Counselling.

    • After that, you have to upload scanned your documents in the prescribed format and size.

    Step-3: Uploading of Documents:

    • You have to upload your documents and scanned images of your recent passport-sized photograph in the prescribed format and size as adhering to the guidelines provided below:

      • Photograph: Applicant has to upload their scanned photocopy of the Front facing recent passport size photograph. 

      • Signature: Applicant has to upload their scanned photocopy of Signature.

      • The scanned copy of the certificate in PDF format issued by the competent authority to support the claim of Specially Abled Persons (SAP). 

    Specification for Signature and Photograph:

    Photograph Specification:

    • The photograph should be in colour and must have been taken in a professional studio.

    • The photograph has to be in JPEG format with standard 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm (Width × Height).

    • File size should be less than or equal to 100 KB.

    • Maximum pixel resolution for JPEG: 480 x 640 (100 KB).

    • Minimum pixel resolution for JPEG: 240 x 320.

    • The photograph should have a white or very light background.

    • The photograph must not be older than September 2017.

    • In the photograph, the length of the face (between the chin and the top of the forehead) should cover up to 50% of the length of the photograph.

    • The candidate's photograph with glare on glasses or with spectacles will not be acceptable.

    Signature Specification: 

    • Design a rectangular box having a size of 7 cm × 2 cm (Width x Height) on an A4 sheet paper. The signature has to be in black or dark blue ink pen in the required box.

    • Signature's digital image must be scanned by a professional using a scanner.

    • The scanned photograph must have:

      • Height - 120 pixels

      • Size - 100 KB

      • Width - 420 pixels

    • Pixel resolutions for scanned signature image:

      • Maximum - 560 × 160

      • Minimum - 280 × 80

    • Signature images taken from the mobile phone or from digital cameras are not allowed. 

    Note: The photograph and signature of the applicant need not be attested while submitting the Online Application Form.

    • You can preview the application form, edit or modify the necessary changes in the application, using the 'Edit/Update' tab.

    • If no other changes are required in the CLAT 2021 application form,  you can go for the fee payment page, before submitting the CLAT application form.

    Step-4: Payment of CLAT 2021 Fees:

    • The application fee can be paid online or by bank challan generated online. 

      • In Online Mode: 

        • The fee can be paid using the Debit/ Credit card/ net banking/ pay wallet/ RuPay etc. 

        • The Bank Transaction Charges may vary depending upon the payment option selected.

      • In Offline Mode (by bank challan):

        • The payment of application fee can be made after registering the application online and generating the challans online. 

        • The print out of the challans generated has to be taken to the relevant bank for payment over the counter. 

        • Offline payments are to be made in cash only.

    • The application fee is non-refundable.

    Step-5: Downloading the Application Form

    • After completing the application online payment, the candidate will able to download the application form with the detail of fee payment in PDF format. 

    • Candidate must save a printout for further use. 

    • No printout of CLAT application form is needed to be sent to CLAT Office.

    Note: 

    • If the data in the application form of a candidate is found false or does not meet the mentioned eligibility criteria, his/her application will be cancelled by the conducting Institute.

    • The original educational documents must be submitted to the university by the candidate at the time of admissions. 

    • The photograph and signature of the candidate need not be attested.

    Mandatory Documents:

    • Scanned photocopies of the certificate of impairment in a PDF format for Specially Abled Persons (SAP).

    • The documents/certificates are mandatory for admission to both UG and PG courses.

    CLAT Application Form Correction

    Candidates who are applying for CLAT 2021 must note that the application form must be filled carefully. The candidates need to enter the exact details as per his/ her academic records in the application form. There is no provision for making changes or edit the application form of CLAT after submission. Therefore, the candidates are advised to crosscheck all the details before submitting the application form. Any change in category or personal details in the CLAT application form will not be allowed once submitted.

    When will the CLAT 2020 counselling fee of unselected candidates refunded?

    Dear Student,

    The counselling fee of the unselected candidates is refunded after the completion of the CLAT Counselling Process. No information regarding the date of the refund day has been released by the Consortium of NLUs, however, it is officially declared that the fee will be fully returned soon after the counselling process.

    No, you are not required to attest your photograph while uploading it on the CLAT application form.
