NID DAT Counselling Process 2024

The National Institute of Design (NID) will hold its NID DAT counselling session for the year 2024 in May 2024. This session will be conducted online, making it convenient for all eligible candidates who have successfully cleared the NID DAT 2024. For B.Des candidates, an important step in the counselling process is submitting their campus preferences, which they can do between May 21 and May 23, 2024. Following this, seat allotment will take place on May 29, 2024. To secure their seats, candidates must pay a token fee and upload necessary documents within the window of May 29 to May 31, 2024. The direct link for submitting campus preferences will be provided once the window opens.

Direct Link to Check Bdes Admission 2024: Seat Allotment (Will Be Activated Soon)

On the other hand, M.Des candidates need not submit any preferences. Seat allocation for the M.Des program will be announced on April 30, 2024. From April 30 to May 14, 2024, candidates need to pay the 1st-semester fee and upload the required documents. The seat allotment for B.Des candidates will be determined by their rank in NID DAT 2024 merit list and the campus preferences they have indicated. Candidates who receive seat allotments will be required to pay a seat acceptance fee of INR 30,000 (INR 75,000 for overseas candidates) to confirm their seats. The 1st-semester tuition fee for admission to NID DAT participating colleges is INR 2,13,500, which includes a non-refundable token fee of INR 30,000 along with convenience charges. It is important to adhere to the payment deadlines; failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the seat allotment, with the vacant seat being offered to the next candidate in the merit order.

What is the NID DAT Counselling Process?

NID DAT 2024 counselling is the process for admission to the National Institute of Design's 425 B.Des seats. Those who clear the preliminary exam qualify for the main examination. Reserved category candidates have a slight relaxation in cutoff marks. Both prelims and mains qualified applicants will be invited for NID DAT counselling 2024, held offline at the NID Ahmedabad campus. If a candidate fails to complete payment on time, the seat goes to the next merit-listed candidate. Admission depends on the merit list, category, and seat availability. Missing the counselling forfeits the seat, which goes to the next eligible candidate in the corresponding category.

NID DAT 2024 Round I Seat Allotment for M.Des Program

The National Institute of Design will determine seat allocation based on the following factors:

  • Merit rank in NID DAT 2024
  • Seat availability for the chosen program.
  • Discipline preference indicated during the NID DAT 2024 application.
  • Candidate's category
  • Payment of fees and submission of documents

Candidates receiving seat allocations must fulfil two requirements:

  • Pay the Tuition Fee for Semester I.
  • Upload the necessary documents before the deadline.

If a candidate is shortlisted for two disciplines:

  • The candidate is assigned a seat in the discipline marked as the FIRST preference if shortlisted in both disciplines.
  • If shortlisted only for the discipline marked as Preference 02, the candidate will be allotted a seat in Preference 02.

If a candidate is eligible for both disciplines but shortlisted for preference 02:

  • The candidate will be allocated a seat in preference 02.
  • If there is a vacancy in preference 01, the candidate will be upgraded to preference 01.
  • The previous allocation (preference 02) is cancelled, and the vacant seat goes to the next candidate on merit.

NID DAT 2024 Seat confirmation Fees (M.Des)

For NID DAT 2024 seat confirmation fees for the M.Des program, candidates must pay the following tuition fees to confirm their seats:

Stages of NID DAT Exam 2024

The NID DAT 2024 counselling process happens shortly after the announcement of the final NID DAT 2024 Result. Interested candidates can participate in the seat acceptance process to secure admission to the institute. The NID DAT counselling occurs once the three stages of the selection process are finished:

  • Design Aptitude Test (DAT): This is a pen-and-paper-based exam conducted in two stages for BDes and MDes. Stage 1 is the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims, and Stage 2 is the Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains.
  • Studio Test: The Studio Test carries 100 marks and includes various sections with hands-on practical assignments. The test is conducted in English.
  • Personal Interview: The personal interview is the final stage of the NID DAT 2024 Selection Process. It takes place immediately after the studio tests for BDes and MDes applicants. Candidates are advised to maintain discipline and patience during personal interviews.

To complete the NID DAT 2024 Counseling Process, shortlisted candidates must attend the counselling session in person at the chosen NID Campus. They must present original documents and pay the admission fees to confirm their admission. Shortlisted candidates must complete the admission process by the deadline set by the conducting body.

NID 2024 Counselling Procedure

Here's a simplified breakdown of the NID DAT 2024 counselling process:

Step 1: Check NID DAT 2024 Qualifying Status

To take part in NID DAT 2024 counselling, candidates need to have successfully cleared the NID DAT 2024 exam. You can verify your qualifying status by logging into the NID DAT 2024 result portal.

Step 2: Submission of Campus Preference (for B.Des Applicants)

For B.Des candidates, indicating campus preferences is essential. Entries should be prioritized, and it's crucial to note that failure to make selections might result in disqualification. Campus choices should consider seat availability and the NID DAT 2024 merit rank. Notably, M.Des candidates are not obligated to submit campus preferences.

Step 3: Seat Allocation

Seats will be allotted based on seat availability, applicant merit rank, campus preferences, and category. Once a seat is allocated, candidates must confirm it by:

  • Paying the relevant non-refundable seat-acceptance fee online.
  • Uploading essential documents, including:
    • Valid photo ID (Aadhaar Card, Election ID, PAN Card, Driving License, or Passport)
    • Birth Certificate or School Leaving Certificate
    • Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL/ST/ST Certificate (if applicable)
    • PwD Certificate (if applicable)
    • Passport (for those applying under the Supernumerary category)

Step 4: Document Verification

Uploaded documents undergo scrutiny to ensure alignment with the information provided during online registration. Discrepancies, if detected, may lead to disqualification.

Step 5: Issue of Provisional Offer Letter for Admission

Upon successful document verification, candidates receive Provisional Offer Letters of Admission. Subsequent payment details, payable directly to NIDs, will be communicated to the candidate.
