About GCET 2018

Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) is a state level examination conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Goa. Professional degree courses like Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, etc. can be pursued after clearing this examination. Admission in Bachelor of  Architecture is based on NATA conducted by Council of Architecture, and qualifying exam (Std. XII th /HSSC.). For admission in MBBS, BDS, BHMS*(Homeopathy) and BAMS* (Ayurveda), students have to qualify NEET, which is conducted by CBSE.

GCET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

The most important thing that candidates should do before filling any examination form is to go through the eligibility criteria. The conditions to become eligible to take the exam may include age limit, nationality, educational qualifications, reservation policy, etc. Non-resident Indians (NRI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) along with Indian Nationals can apply for GCET 2018. There is no age bar for engineering and Pharmacy courses.

For B.E:

  • Candidate should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics and English as compulsory subjects with one of the following add on subjects like Chemistry/ Computer Science Bio-Technology/ Biology, with at least 45% marks in Physics & Mathematics with one of the following subjects Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Bio-Technology/ Biology. The aggregate is reduced to 40% for the candidates belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories.

For B.Pharm:

  • Candidate should have cleared 10+2 with Mathematics as one of the main subjects and scored at least 50% marks. Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category needs to secure at least 45% marks in 10+2 exam.

OR

  • Candidate should have passed 10+3 Diploma (any stream) with 50% aggregate with Mathematics from a recognised university.

OR

  • Candidate should have International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with at least aggregate of 50% with Mathematics as compulsory subject in exam.

GCET 2018 Exam Pattern

GCET 2018 exam pattern gives students an idea of how the paper is framed. It is important to go through the pattern before sitting for the examination. The examination pattern for Goa Common Entrance Test 2018 has not been released by Directorate of Technical Education. The tentative pattern as of GCET 2017 is mentioned below:

  • The mode of examination is pen and paper based (offline) test.

  • There are objective type questions with multiple choice format.

  • Candidate are advised to use Black/Blue ball point pen only.

  • The duration of the examination for each paper (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics) is 2 hours.

  • There are 75 questions in each paper.

  • Marks per paper are 75.

  • 1 mark is given for every correct answer in the GCET 2018.

  • There is no negative marking in the paper.

How to Prepare for GCET 2018

Students preparing for the Goa Common Entrance Test 2018 should have a good hold on subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. For any examination, it is important for the student to study the subject matter well. Apart from knowing the subject well, there are few other pointers that can help in students’ preparation for GCET 2018. These are as follows:

Time Management

To complete the exam syllabus timely, division of time as per subjects is necessary on a daily basis. It helps candidates cover a larger section of the syllabus, which in a way helps in scoring well in the examination.

GCET 2018 Result

GCET 2018 Result has been announced on 14th May, 2018. GCET 2018 Results are available on DTE’s official website and on DTE Notice Board. The result consists of the scores gained by the candidates in the examination. Individual score card shall not be issued to the candidates. Any change in GCET 2018 schedule will be disclosed in the four news papers of the State of Goa, which are Herald, Navhind Times, Tarun Bharat (Marathi) and Gomantak (Marathi).

  • There is no provision for issuing individual scorecard by Directorate of Technical Education.

  • GCET 2018 Scorecard is an important document that test takers must carry with them at the time of admission. 

GCET Merit List 2018

The provisional merit list for GCET 2018 is expected to be released on June 13 by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Goa. Once it is released on the official website of DTE-Goa, candidates who appeared for the exam will be able to access the GCET 2018 provisional merit list The GCET 2018 final merit list will be released on June 15, 2018. The GCET 2018 merit list is prepared based on GCET 2018 cut-offs.

The GCET provisional merit list will have candidates' GCET ranks and marks along with their class 12 board examination scores. Candidates must report to the concerned authorities within 24 hours in case of any discrepancy. 

GCET Cut-off 2018

The minimum marks obtained by the candidates in GCET 2018 is the set cut-off for every term. It may vary institution-wise and discipline-wise. For admission in B.Tech courses, candidates have to score good marks. NATA and NEET candidates have to follow guidelines mentioned by the exam conducting body. Once the candidature is confirmed, students are allotted seats in colleges. It is important for candidates to know that the colleges cannot be changed once confirmed by the authorised body and by the candidate.

GCET 2018 Counselling Process

The Directorate of Technical Education, Goa will organise the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET) Counselling Process 2018 from 18th June. GCET Counselling will be held in two rounds and it will be compulsory for candidates to participate in all the rounds.

Step by Step Counselling Process of GCET 2018

  • The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa prepares the Merit List of Goa CET, for the candidates who will qualify in the entrance examination. 

  • The provisional merit list is expected to be available on the DTE’s official website along with the schedule of counselling of Goa CET 2018 on June 13 while the final merit list is expected to be released on June 15.

  • Only the candidates who will fill the application form at the reporting center will be allowed admission in Engineering, Pharmacy and Sciences courses.

  • All the candidates must report to the admission center of Directorate of Technical Education, Goa, in person along with the relevant documents, acknowledgement slip and tuition fees.

  • If candidates fail to submit any document at the time of GCET counselling, then it might lead to the cancellation of the candidature.

  • During the counselling process, those who are present at the time of counselling will be allowed to give the preferences of seats as per their choice from the seats available at that point.

  • On the basis of merit rank and preferences of seats, the candidates will be allotted seats in the first round of Goa CET Counselling.

  • If the candidates fail to participate in person for the counselling of GCET 2018 or withdraw from the admission offered to them, then in such case the candidates will lose their claim of the seat. 

  • The seats will then be offered to the next candidate in the merit list.

  • If the candidate reaches late to the admission centre, he/she will be allotted the seat available at that particular point of time. No changes in the admitted list will be done.

  • After every round of Goa CET counselling, the list of provisional admitted candidates will be displayed on the official website, which will also indicate the name of the institution, branch, category and marks.

  • If the seats are left vacant, then it will be filled in by the subsequent rounds of counselling.

  • In each round, the unclaimed and vacant seats are transferred to the general category candidates.

Documents Required for Verification

The following requisite documents must be attached with the form while submitting it to the admission in charge.

  • 3 recent passport size photographs

  • Mark sheet of Class XII or equivalent

  • Birth Certificate from the competent authority

  • Resident Certificate

  • Leaving/Transfer certificate from the school last attended, duly signed by the principal

  • Income Certificate

  • Non-Migrant Caste certificate (For SC/ST category)

  • Non-Creamy and Non-Migrant Caste certificate (For OBC category)

  • PH certificate

  • Children of Goa State/ Central Government Employees must submit the service certificate of their parents

  • Domicile Certificate

GCET Admit Card 2018

GCET 2018 admit card is expected to be issued in the month of April 2018 for all the candidates who successfully registered to appear for the entrance exam. The admit card of GCET 2018 will be issued in the offline mode by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa. Candidates will first have to submit their application and then visit the designated centre of DTE, Goa in person to collect the admit card of GCET 2018.

After paying the application fee, candidates have to submit the application form of GCET 2018 and collect their GCET 2018 admit card on the same day. The admit card of GCET 2018 contains details such as name of the candidate, roll number, date of birth, photograph, signature, examination date, examination time, examination venue and other important instructions. How to Download GCET Admit Card 2018

To download the admit card of GCET 2018, candidates must follow the steps given below:

Step 1: Visit the designated centre of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Goa.

Step 2: Submit the application form in person.

Step 4: After submitting the application form, collect the ‘photo GCET admit card’ on the same day.

Step 5: Check all the details mentioned on the admit card.

How to Apply for GCET 2018

The notification for GCET 2018 has been released on the official website of Directorate of Technical Education. The application forms are expected to be available from the first week of April, 2018 on DTE’s website. Once released, candidates may fill the form by downloading the form and taking a print out. The submission of the application form should be in the first week of April, 2018. 

Steps to Fill GCET 2018 Application Form: 

  • Go to the official website of 'Director of Technical Education'. 

  • Go to the Admission Advertisement section of the website.

  • Download the application form GCET (Form A).

  • Take a printout of the form on a good quality A4 size paper.

  • Then, fill the application form with all the necessary details such as:

    • Personal Details

    • Educational Details

    • Exam Details

  • Paste your recent passport size photograph in the required pixel.

  • Sign in the box provided in the application form.  Remember to sign in small letters and not in capital letters.

  • Once the form is filled, send it on the address mentioned in the form.

  • Before sending the form, get a Demand Draft of INR 1,800, drawn in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji – Goa, at Scheduled Bank mentioned by the authority.

  • The application form, the demand draft and three identical photographs, along with  specified certificates (self attested photo copies), should be sent to the address given in the form.

  • Admit cards are issued on the official website of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). Candidates must ensure that the Demand Draft’s validity should be at least for 3 months from the date of issue.

Note:

  • Candidates should keep in mind that incomplete application forms are not accepted.

  • There is no provision for sending the GCET application form by post or through messenger.

  • GCET application forms are not accepted after the last date of submission.
