IMU CET (short for Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test) is a national-level entrance exam organised for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by its five campuses i.e Cochin, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Vishakhapatnam. IMU CET 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who are interested in taking admission through IMU CET 2018 should ensure that they meet all the eligibility norms as given below otherwise their candidature would be cancelled by the organised authority at any stage of the examination. The detailed eligibility norms are given below:

Age:

The minimum age of applicant should be 17 years and maximum age should not exceed 25 years.

Medical Fitness:

Applicants applying for B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering) degree course have to submit a physical Fitness Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner.

DNS course (One-Year) leading to B.Sc (Applied Nautical Science)

  • Applicant should have passed Class 12 /equivalent (PCM 60%).

  • Applicant should have passed B.Sc (PCM)/ B.Sc (Electronics with Physics as individual subject in one of the years) with 60% marks.

  • Applicant should have a B.E./B.Tech degree from IIT or college recognised by AICTE with marks not less than 50%.​

Note: Marks of English are to be 50% or more in any one of the above given examination.

3 Year B.Sc (Nautical Science)

Applicant should have passed 12th Standard or equivalent with PCM-60% and English- 50% marks.

3 Year B.Sc (Maritime Science)

Applicant should have passed 12th Standard or equivalent with PCM-60% and English- 50% marks.

3 Year B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair)

Applicant should have passed 12th or equivalent examination with PCM-50% and English- 50% marks.

B.Tech

4 Year B.Tech (Marine Engineering)

Applicant should have passed 12th Standard or equivalent examination with PCM-60% and English- 50% marks.

Applicant should have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination (PCM-60% & English- 50%).

Applicant should have passed a BE/B.Tech in Marine Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/ Naval Architecture with at least 60% marks from a recognised University.

Associate Member of Institution of Engineers Part A and B in Mechanical Engineering with at least 60% marks.

Note: Applicants with prescribed GATE/GRE Scores are exempted from IMU’s CET.

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates, there will be a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks.

IMU CET 2018 Exam Pattern

IMU CET 2018 Counselling

The online registration for IMU CET 2018 Counselling Process has started. Candidates who have successfully qualified the IMU CET 2018 exam can now apply for the counselling process. Counselling will be done in the online mode. The process of counselling started after the declaration of IMU CET 2018 result. The shortlisted candidates who have been placed in the 1st or 2nd list are called for the counselling session.

IMU CET 2018 was conducted for aspirants of undergraduate engineering courses. The exam took place on 2nd June, 2018 at various centers and the result was declared on 5th June, 2018 on the official website of Indian Maritime University (IMU).

To complete the counselling process successfully, candidates need to know the procedure involved in the IMU CET 2018 Counselling Process. Given below are the details related to the counselling procedure.​

IMU CET 2018 Counselling Procedure

The counselling is done for candidates who qualify the exam and are invited for counselling based on the marks obtained in the exam. The complete procedure can be divided into parts as followed by the concerned authority.

Online Registration:

  • Candidates who are shortlisted for the online counselling process of IMU CET must register themselves for the same on the official website of the university.

  • To register online for the counselling process candidates need to first sign in with their registered user ID and password.

  • After logging in, the page with the registration form will open.

  • Fill in the correct and relevant details in the form and attach the asked documents.

  • After filling up the form, submit it by clicking on the submit button.

  • Remember to go through each details filled by you in the form and submit it.

Fee Submission:

  • Candidates have to pay Rs.10,000/- (Non-refundable) as part of registration for IMU Online Counselling.

  • Fee can be submitted through net banking or credit or debit card payment at the time of registration.

  • Candidates selected after the counselling process in the First/Second/Third (if any) list published by IMU will have to pay an amount of Rs.25,000/- (Non- Refundable) to complete the admission process.

Choice Filling and Seat Allocation:

  • Seat allotment to various courses is done after the counselling of IMU CET 2018.

  • The candidates can modify their choices of programmes only twice after the first counselling round.

  • Candidates must remember to take a printout of the choices that has been locked for submission.

Document Verification:

  • The seat allotment process is followed by verification of original mark sheets and certificates, physical fitness clearance, etc.

  • Candidates must submit correct documents at the time of registration. Any fault found in the documents submitted, shall be subject to illegal offense and might lead to the cancellation of the candidature of the candidates.

Confirmation and Admission:

  • After the completion of all the above stages, candidates will be allotted with seats in any of IMU’s campuses.

  • Seats will be allotted after the screening of the marks scored in IMU CET 2018, online registration form submitted and documents provided by the candidates.

  • No changes in the choice of campus or course will be entertained after the confirmation of the registration form.

Notes:

  • Candidates must know that the seats will be allotted in the IMU’s campuses only.

  • If a candidate withdraws from the allotted Campus/ Programme for any reason after his/her admission is confirmed, then he/she will not be entitled for any refunds (counselling or first semester fees) under any circumstances.

  • Candidates who fail to produce the required documents will not be allotted seats in any of the courses.

  • Candidate who fail to complete IMU CET counselling registration process will not be considered for admission.

  • All the candidates should keep a track of the counselling schedule so that they do not miss any of the forthcoming events related to the admission.

  • They should bring their original documents and certificates during the counselling process along with a set of photocopies.

How to Apply for IMU CET 2018

The application process for IMU CET 2018 is completely online. During the application process, aspirants should keep their educational certificates/mark sheet with them for reference purpose. Steps to Fill IMU CET 2018 Online Application Form

Registration:

  • Aspirants must visit the official website i.e. www.imu.edu.in

  • Click on the link 'CET 2018 Apply Online'.

  • Aspirants will be directed to a page where all the important instructions are given.

  • After reading and understanding the instructions, candidates have to click on the check box 'I Agree'.

  • Next, they have to click on the 'Registration' tab and enter the requisite details such as Name (as in 10th /equivalent certificate), Nationality, Category, Date of Birth, CET applying for, Email ID and Mobile number.

  • The next step is to click on the 'Submit' tab.

  • After successfully submitting the basic information, the application number is sent to the aspirants via mail to the email ID provided and via SMS to the mobile number provided.

Filling up Application Details:

In this section, aspirants have to provide their personal details such as Nationality, Gender, Mother Tongue, Parent’s/Guardian’s Name (their Occupation and Annual Income), Mobile Number, Email, Address Details, Educational information such as 10th Standard Details, 12th Standard or Equivalent Examination Details, Board Name, Year of Passing, UG Degree Marks and Preferred Exam City Details.

Uploading of Documents:

In the next section, aspirants have to upload the following documents in the prescribed format:

  • Scanned copy of 10th Standard Mark sheet as proof of Date of Birth,

  • Scanned copy of 12th Standard / Degree Certificate,

  • Scanned copy of UG Degree (wherever applicable),

  • Scanned copy of SC/ST certificate (if applicable),
