The CAT result 2025 will be released by IIM Kozhikode in December 2025, through online mode. Additionally, the plea for challenging the CAT results was dismissed by the Delhi High Court on January 7, 2025, for admission to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other business schools. The plea stated that there was an uncountable error in the CAT answer key affecting the result of a candidate and added that "The result was expected in the second week of January 2025 and the haste in declaring the results in December speaks volumes”. While pronouncing the verdict, Justice Tara Vitasta Ganju said, "Given the above, we find no reason to interfere with the results of CAT. The petition is accordingly dismissed". How is CAT 2025 Percentile Calculated?

CAT percentile represents a candidate's rank in the CAT exam, relative to the rest of the candidates who appeared in the same or different slots, along with a few other parameters. It points to a candidate’s position among other applicants based on which the ranking of a candidate is decided. It is a unit used to calculate/evaluate the percentage of students above or below you in the merit list.

The CAT score is announced by IIMs in the form of percentile. IIMs and other CAT participating institutes shortlist candidates based on the CAT percentile. The CAT Normalisation Process adopted by the IIMs will be used to calculate the CAT 2025 percentile.

How to Calculate CAT 2025 Percentile?

A candidate’s scaled scores are used to calculate his CAT percentile. The process of calculating the CAT percentile is the same for all the sections. One can follow the given steps to calculate the CAT 2025 percentile:

• Calculate the total number of candidates who appeared for CAT 2025 in all three slots (morning, afternoon, and evening) and assign the value ‘N’ to it.
• Now, calculate your rank based on your scaled score in any of the three CAT sections and assign the value ‘R’ to it. Let’s assume that if you and some other candidate have identical scaled scores in the DILR section, identical ranks will be assigned to them.
• The next step is to calculate the percentile score (P) of a candidate with rank (R) in the DILR section using the given formula:

Example: Assume that 2,000 candidates appeared for the CAT 2025 exam. You have topped the exam by securing the first rank, which means that 1,999 candidates scored less than you. Now, your percentile can be calculated as follows:

Once you have calculated your CAT percentile scores, round them off up to two decimal points. For example, all CAT percentiles greater than or equal to 99.995 are rounded off to 100. How to Calculate IIM CAT Percentile?

• Scores of the CAT exam are calculated according to the marking scheme of CAT i.e. 3 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for each incorrect answer.

• The normalized scores of the CAT exam are then converted into percentiles which are then updated on the CAT scorecard.

The CAT exam scores are valid for one year only. For CAT Result 2025, the score validity will be until December 31, 2025. Any query related to the scorecard will not be entertained beyond this date.
