The DU JAT normalization process is a standardization method to calculate the scores obtained by the candidates who appear in the DU JAT 2022 entrance exam which takes into account various factors. The normalization process for DU JAT 2022 was first introduced in the year 2018 by the University of Delhi.
As the DU JAT entrance exam is conducted across multiple shifts, there is a difference in the level of toughness. Even though a lot of effort is put to ensure that the difficulty level of the question papers across all shifts is inequity, it is likely that some shifts will have those question papers whose difficulty level will be higher than the others. In order to make sure that no candidate is in an advantageous or disadvantageous position due to the difficulty level of the questions papers, the raw scores obtained by the candidates are put through the normalization process. The DU JAT merit list is also prepared on the basis of the marks secured by the candidates after the normalization process is employed.
As explained above, the normalization process is used by the conducting authorities to ensure equality in marks obtained by the candidates in the DU JAT entrance examination. Here is how the DU JAT normalization process works:
First, the total marks obtained by the candidates in all the sections are summed up
The summed up marks will be the Raw Marks obtained by the candidates which will be equated using the Normalisation Process
An Equi-Percentile method will be employed on the raw marks of the candidates to normalize the raw scores
Next, the conversion of the scaled scores into percentile scores will be done which will be used to prepare the DU JAT merit list
The following factors will determine the rank of the candidates which will be updated on the DU JAT 2022 merit list:
The difficulty level of the examination
The total number of test-takers
The maximum marks obtained by the candidates in the DU JAT exam
The average score of the candidates obtained in the entrance exam
During the preparation of the DU JAT 2022 merit list, there will be a possibility of two or more candidates who will have the same percentile scores after the normalization process. In this case, a tie-breaking policy will be used by the DU JAT officials during the preparation of the DU JAT 2022 merit list. Here is how the tie-breaking policy will be employed:
Candidates with a higher Best of Four aggregate (including one language) in their 10+2 qualifying exam will be given priority
Candidates with higher entrance test scores will be preferred
Candidates with a higher Best of Five aggregate (including one language) will be given preference
Older age candidates (according to the class X certificate) will be prioritized
