You can find the detailed syllabus of XAT 2023 below. Candidates appearing for the exam must be thorough with the entire syllabus.

Changes Introduced in XAT 2023 Exam Pattern

Candidates appearing for the XAT 2023 exam must be aware of the following changes in the exam pattern:

  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions have been introduced.

  • In the redesigned XAT exam pattern, each unattempted question after the first 8 will result in a negative marking penalty of 0.10 marks.

  • The time of the XAT 2023 exam has been changed from 9.30 AM to 12.40 PM. The time duration for the XAT exam has been extended. Instead of three hours, the XAT 2023 exam will now run three hours and ten minutes.

  • The total number of questions has gone up from 99 to 101.

  • The descriptive essay test, which was discontinued in 2019, has been reintroduced. Now there will be both MCQs and descriptive questions.

  • The XAT 2023 exam paper will have 4 MCQ sections and 1 essay writing section.

  • Percentiles will not be determined by taking into account the GK section having 25 questions.

  • The general knowledge and essay writing portions will not carry any negative marking.

  • There will be five options for each MCQ, but only one of them is correct.

  • The essay of each candidate will be assessed after they have been chosen for the interview process.

  • The countdown counter at the top, right-hand side of the screen displays how much time is available for you to complete the examination for the part of the question paper you are answering (Part 1/Part 2).

  • After the allotted 165 minutes are completed, Part 1 will be locked. You will be moved to Part 2, the section of the exam that includes the general knowledge and essay questions.

  • For the initial part of the XAT exam (the first three sections), the scribe will get an additional 25 minutes in 2023.

  • For the GK section, there is no time allowance.

  • You are not permitted to leave the examination center before the XAT 2023 exam is finished.

  • PwD applicants may submit their responses at any time between 165 and 220 minutes for Part 1 and between 15 and 20 minutes for Part 2 of the exam. A PwD candidate can therefore leave the lab after 180 minutes.

FAQs

What are the similarities between the XAT and CAT syllabus?

Although both CAT and XAT have the same syllabus (apart from Decision Making and GK), the variation is in the sorts of questions and degree of difficulty. Both the XAT and the CAT are harder than other MBA entry examinations in terms of their level of difficulty.

Does XLRI consider CAT score?

No, CAT scores are not accepted as admission criteria at XLRI. Candidates must take the XAT exam rather than the CAT in order to get admitted to XLRI. IIMs and other B Schools use CAT scores. However, both CAT and XAT scores are accepted by numerous other top b-schools in India.

How difficult is XAT from CAT?

The answer to how difficult is XAT from CAT, aspirants need to be aware of certain factors. Nearly all of the XAT's sections have a moderate to a high level of difficulty. An extra, highly challenging component of the XAT tests decision-making skills. Furthermore, it includes a GK portion that is absent from other competitive tests like the CAT, NMAT, etc.

Is the Quantitative section of XAT tougher than CAT?

Both the XAT and the CAT score highly in the quantitative ability and data interpretation portions. Similar to how the VARC and LR questions of the CAT are challenging, the Verbal Ability and Decision Making questions of the XAT are challenging. As a result, it is a little bit more challenging to score in certain CAT and XAT areas.

Which is the toughest section of XAT 2023?

The XAT Analysis 2023 and candidate feedback predict that the exam will be moderate to difficult. Expect straightforward answers to the queries posed to VALR and DM. However, because most of the QADI section's questions were lengthy, that part was the hardest. According to XAT Analysis 2023, the GK segment in Part 2 was also challenging.

How many total questions will be a part of XAT 2023?

As of right now, the XAT paper format for 2023 will have five sections, 100 MCQs, and one descriptive essay. Accordingly, there will be a total of 101 questions in the updated XAT exam pattern for 2023.

Which all sections will be a part of XAT 2023?

Along with the other three categories, XAT GK questions will be a significant component of the XAT 2023 computer-based online test and the application procedure for XLRI.

Is there any negative marking for unattempted questions at XAT 2023?
