Hi,

B.Sc in Agriculture and Horticulture are upcoming fields of study in our country. India is a rich land of agriculture, and it is one of those sectors that will never run out of jobs, come what may. It is generally a 4-year undergraduate programme that aims at training candidates in improving agricultural productivity and conduct research activities for future developments in the industry. A candidate after completion of the degree course is in a position to apply in government as well as private-sector jobs. Average starting salary ranges between Rs. 2.5-3.5 lakh per annum.

On the other hand, B.Sc Horticulture deals with the application of scientific knowledge to plant cultivation in order to increase productivity and yield. It is a 3-year undergraduate degree programme. Students can find jobs in government undertakings such as State Agricultural Departments, Forestry Departments etc. as well as in Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing firms, Food Production and Technology companies etc.

Scope of both the courses is almost similar. However, it is up to your area of interest basis which you shall pick up an option to pursue.
