Dear student,

You will need to take the Joint Entrance Exam or JEE (Mains) 2017 exam. You will have to score in the Top 20 percentile to be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2017 exam for admission to IITs, NIT, ISM Dhanbad or IIITs.

There are some very good engineering colleges in India apart from IITs as well. As a safe side, we suggest that you explore them as well and appear for some other engineering entrance exams in India

Since you are in Class 12, you must know that most of the questions in JEE (Mains) or JEE (Advanced) is based out of the NCERT text books itself. Make sure that you are thorough with them, especially for Physics, Chemistry, Maths. Refer to other books as well. The key for clearing these exams is practice, practice & more practice. Solve mock tests available freely on the internet. Buy mock test papers and solve them. Since we are already sitting in December, you don't have much time, so you need to spend your time judiciously.

You should've finished one or two rounds of your syllabus completely by now. For the next 3 months, only solve mock papers and brush up your weak points more and more. The key is that your concept should be clear.

Solving mock test will also prepare you for JEE, as you will know how to time yourself during the paper. Time management and knowing how much time to give to which section is important and that can happen only if you have thoroughly solved papers.

If you have not joined any coaching institute yet (it is not mandatory), but still have some doubts, you may join one for a crash course or tips, or just seek help from your school teachers.

You may also join some IIT JEE forums online, where lakhs of students from India discuss, compare and talk about their preparation levels and problems faced. Knowing that there are many more out there will make you feel part of the energy. It will also motivate you. So, don't be stressed, just keep your concepts clear and practice - you will be invincible!! Good luck :)
