GUIDELINES FOR FILLING SMU APPLICATION FORM
 
General Instructions:

• Please refer to item wise instructions before filling up the form.
• Fill in the form in English using Capital letters, except for signature. Forms must be filled in applicant's own handwriting.
• Use only BLACK or BLUE Hi-Tec type pen to fill up the form.
• Square boxes provided in the forms are only for writing the alphabets in capitals or numbers. Only one alphabet or number should be written in one box. Wherever codes are given, fill in the boxes with the appropriate codes.
• Overwriting, striking off or erasing in any of the forms may lead to rejection and should be avoided. Any discrepancy in the statement and/or submission of incomplete forms will lead to rejection of application/cancellation of admission.
• Keep a photocopy of the filled application for future reference. Application number must be quoted in all future correspondence. For downloaded application, application number will be communicated to the candidate's e-mail ID after his/her filled application (without application number) is received by the Admission Section, SMIT/SMIMS.
  • Applicants who are required to submit photocopies of marks cards, certificates or any other documents must ensure that:
  • The photocopies are taken on A4 size paper only.
  • The print is clear and legible.
  • Both sides are photocopied if the original document is printed on both sides.
  • Application number must be written at top right corner of all the photocopies.
• Do not fold the form. Do not staple or clip the form with any other enclosures, keep it loose. All marks cards and certificates, if any, must be stapled together. Demand draft must be kept loose. However, cost of application form can be remitted electronically also.
• The demand draft should be drawn in favour of 'Sikkim Manipal University' payable at Gangtok. The application number (if any) and candidate's name should be mentioned on the reverse side of the demand draft.
• Fees once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

Qualification Details:

• DETAILS OF 10TH EXAM: Write all specified details of 10th exam.
• DETAILS OF 10+2 EXAM: It is only for the courses which require eligibility of 10+2. If the result of the qualifying examination is not declared/ with held or appearing in the exam, kindly leave the space for marks as blank and write other details.

• Smoking in the examination hall is strictly prohibited.
• Tea, coffee, cold drinks and snacks are not allowed to be taken inside the examination hall.
• 15 minutes before the commencement of the test, an answer sheet will be given. Candidates must ensure that the answer sheet they have received is correct and properly printed on both sides.
• The hall ticket number and the test booklet numbers as filled by the candidate in the answer sheet will be accepted as final for the purpose of evaluation. When these numbers are not written or written wrongly, the answer sheet will not be evaluated.
• The candidate will be solely responsible for any error /omission in filling up the hall ticket and the test booklet number.
• Correct answers must be marked by darkening the appropriate circle. The answer sheet will be evaluated by the computer using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR).
• If more than one circle is darkened or if the response is marked in any wrong manner as explained above, it shall be treated as wrong answer. Candidates who do not wish to attempt a question should not touch any circle given against that question. Candidates must ensure that the answer sheet is not folded and has no stray mark on it.
• The candidates must bring their own writing materials such as Hi-Tec point type black pen.

1) What is Sikkim Manipal University?

The Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is a University located at Gangtok and established in accordance with the Sikkim Manipal University of Health, Medical and Technological Sciences Act, 1995 (Act No. 9 of 1995) of Government of Sikkim. It is a unique Public Private Partnership (PPP) model between the State of Sikkim and Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG), the first of its kind in the country. Under this agreement the Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim is the Chancellor of the SMU and many representatives of the Government of Sikkim form part of the Senior Management of the University.
The constituent units of Sikkim Manipal University are:-  

• Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Science (SMIMS).  
• College of Physiotherapy.  
• College of Nursing.  
• Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT).  
• Directorate of Distance Education (DDE).

2) How large is the campus?

There are 101 buildings on 278 acres. You can walk from one end of the campus to the other in less than 15 minutes.

3) How do I get the application form for admission to BCA?

• Please log on to the official website for the soft copy of the prospectus.
• The applicant needs to submit an online application form for admission and send the hard copy of the same along with the required documents to the University for confirmation of admission.

4) Are the original documents to be dispatched to the University along with the application form for admission?

No. Only photocopies of the documents duly attested need to be dispatched to the University. However, the officials of the University will verify the original documents during the period of study.

5) How do I check my Application status? (Pending / Provisional/ Rejected/ Approved/ Eligible for Admission)

You can check the status on official website .

6) What is payment mode to pay the shortage of fee for fresh admission?

The shortage of fee should be paid in the form of DD and is to be sent to the University by the last date mentioned on the website.

7) When will I get my Admit Card?

Admit card will be available for view and print in the last week of June (onwards). You will have to log onto the SMU website with your registered User ID. You will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon submission of online application form. You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission from website.

8) What ID proof should be shown in the entrance examination hall (i.e Voter’s ID, Passport, Driving license with photo)?

If you possess a valid admit card with photograph issued by us, there is no need for any other ID proof.
