To become a software engineer, you are better off completing a B.Sc. in computer science or a related course at Lovely Professional University (LPU) as opposed to completing a M.Sc. The reason I suggest a B.Sc. degree is that the B.Sc. focus is on foundational knowledge regarding programming, algorithms, data structures and software development as well as hands-on practical experience and technical knowledge for entry-level software engineering positions. You will also get a technical foundation for each computer programming or software engineering career with a B.Sc. in computer science from LPU since many of the B.Sc. courses at LPU have some sort of practical work experience such as hands-on projects, internships, or learning programming languages - Java, Python, C++ - that are foundational and you will build on throughout your career as a software engineer. An MSc. is typically more advanced, has a greater emphasis on research, and is the more suitable option for a software engineering specialization or for a role in academia, data science or software research or other industries. Consequently, if you already have a Bachelor of Science in computer science and want to learn more, studying for an M.Sc. can be an attractive option. In summary, if you would like to pursue a career as a software engineer, earning a B.Sc. in computer science will count and it will begin to give you the practical skills necessary to begin your career. To obtain full information about detailed course selection and admission information, I suggest that you visit LPU\'s official website.

You didn’t mention BSc. is what subject. Anyways MSc Comp Sc is sufficient to enter into software jobs provided you have the necessary aptitude and skills to crack the interviews for expected role. You may have different role but have designation as software engg. for example you may be Software Developer by role and Soft. Engineer by designation. Even QA Automation role is considered as soft. engg for designation in some companies.

Tech trainings: The must students undergo many training like cutting edge technologies of SAP, Workday, waterfall other MOOCs, Advance Excel and many more. These skills come in handy for the students not only at the time of interviews and tests but also throughout their careers. Soft skills: There must be a dedicated effort by college/university in continuous improvement of personality, soft skills, professional ethics, interview skills, public speaking, presentation style development etc in students. These are must for placements as well as performance in the jobs. Exposure: The students must be exposed to large number of guest lectures and talks by industry experts, large number of events in university to enhance their organizing and networking kills, large number of social work initiatives to develop the right orientation and many more.

BSC in computer science offers you many opportunities for further studies. You can opt for MSC or MCA after completing your BSC. If you want to continue your career in research, choose MSC. You can get a job in any private or government company and you can choose to teach. If you do a PhD, you can become an assistant professor at top universities. But the BSC title alone is almost worthless compared to B TECH. So you can only start earning after completing your Masters. One final piece of advice is if you get B Tech working at a good college instead of BSC. I'm not biased but the B-Tech curriculum for CSE is much better and more detailed than BSC + MSC combined and if you want to study to learn and not just for a random degree then B-Tech would be the better one Choice. The rest is up to you. You can also have a good career with BSC+MSC/MCA. But a post B Tech career would be a lot easier with a lot more options and opportunities. But if you really believe in your talent and skills, you won't have titles to prove yourself.

B.Sc. is Bachelor level & M.Sc. is Post Graduation level Education. I believe your last qualification is 12th. Since you are interested in Software Engineering course let me tell you the major difference between B.Tech. CSE & B.Sc. Computer Science course. B.Sc. CS course teaches one about computer applications but it doesn't cover coding in detail whereas B.Tech Computer Science is all about coding. This Coding Topic is actually act as a differentiator at the time of Placement. In B.Tech Computer Science course major topics include in depth knowledge on Data Structures, Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Database Management Systems and Digital Circuits & System. In my opinion you must opt for B.Tech. CSE (Hons.) course from LPU. LPU always designed the pedagogy of the courses based on Industry standard only. Based on same students are getting Industry ready from Day 1. LPU has reframed their B.Tech. CSE (Hons.) program, LPU is offering specialization on, 1. Data Science and Engineering 2. Cyber Security and Blockchain 3. Full Stack Software Development Out of which, 14-16 courses to be delivered by Industry Experts. Mode: Blended (Live online and/or offline) ** 4 courses of the program will be taught by Foreign Faculties (Online).

Software Engineering and Computer Science are not the same. They overlap much as Physics and Electrical Engineering do. The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has separate curriculum recommendations for each field of study which overlap but are not the same. Many colleges do not offer a degree in Software Engineering, so Computer Science is the best choice at those schools. At present there are probably more working Software Engineers with a degree in Computer Science than those with a degree in Software Engineering. You can certainly become a very good software engineer after earning a degree in Computer Science. However, a degree in Software Engineering of the same quality would be even more helpful. Hence I would rather suggest you to pursue B.Tech CSE from LPU, the Eligibility Criteria (Qualifying Exam) is defined as - Pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with Physics Mathematics and English or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST. LPU has a planned and a well structured curriculum of B.Tech in collaboration with UPGRAD , Comotia, TransOrg and GeeksForGeeks, that is designed in lieu with the industry need. LPU’s curriculum also imbibes rigorous training and internships along with live projects to make their scholars a ready fit for the industry. The efforts put in this direction makes all the students place-able and earns record placement each year. • LPU is conferred with National Employability Award 2020 by Aspiring Minds for the 7th time in a row for having Most Employable Students and being one among the top colleges and universities in India with one of the Highest Employability rates. • LPU is ranked 10th Best Training and Placements Institutions in India for 2019 by The Knowledge Review. • Business Today ranked LPU among Top 100 Private State Universities in 2019 in Placement Performance Category. • LPU is proud recipient of Golden Star Award 2018 for being University with Best Placements in India https://www.lpu.in/academics/industry-immersion.php

Being Alumni of LPU, I would like to answer this question. At LPU, Admission in any programme depends on qualifying the Eligibility criteria for that programme. In order to become Software engineer, you can do B.tech CSE. So, as per the official website of LPU, the Eligibility Criteria (Qualifying Exam) is defined as - Pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with Physics Mathematics and English or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST. LPUNEST is National Entrance and Scholarship Test for admission to various programmes in Lovely Professional University. This test forms the basis of Eligibility and Scholarship for most of the programmes and for some of the programmes test is applicable only for scholarship. LPU NEST serves both the purposes. Also, if you have qualified LPU NEST for Eligibility purpose, you can also improve your score for Scholarship purpose as well. For qualifying the LPU NEST for Eligibility purpose, around 40% marks are required but for Scholarship purpose, cut-offs are required to be qualified for LPU NEST. So, qualifying the same, you can proceed for Admissions. Admissions in LPU have started for most of the programmes. LPU is currently inviting applications for B.Tech in various streams, so you can apply from their website. In order to apply for the Exam, you can refer the following steps : 1 Register yourself on the portal 2. Fill the details 3. Choose the programme 4. Apply for LPUNEST 5. Make the payment for LPUNEST and Book the slot for the Exam i.e date and time for the exam as per your availability. 6. Appear and Qualify the LPUNEST and wait for Result 7. Participate in Online Counselling and Seat Allotment Process if applicable 8. After the seat allotment, proceed for Admissions. You can register yourself on the portal at this link - admission.lpu.in So, qualifying the Eligibility criteria and by participating in the online counselling schedule as mentioned on the website based on merit seat will be allocated to you and you can proceed for Admissions in any programme in LPU. Hope it helps !!

Being an alumni I would like to answer this. LPU has many rankings to its credit: 1.Ranked among Top 10 Engineering Institutes in India by India Today. 2.Ranked as 5th In Top 20 Engineering Colleges in India with Excellent Industry Exposure by Higher Education in 2016. 3.Top 50 Private Universities by India Today 4.Ranked as Best Private University by ASSOCHAM recently. 5.Ranked 2nd by Hack Earth in the race of most technologically aware crowd thrusting LPU ahead of IITs and NITs Let me start with the Career options for students after completing engineering in Computer Science Software Developer. A full-stack software developer is one of the most important. ... Database Administrator. ... Computer Hardware Engineer. ... Computer Systems Analyst. ... Computer Network Architect. ... Web Developer. ... Project Manager. ... Computer Science Blogger & many more. In LPU, 300+ Campus placement drives with reputed brands used to be held every year for this course. Students are placed in the best brands like MICROSOFT, AMAZON, DIRECTI, INFOSYS, IBM, BOSCH ENGINEERING, HEWLETT PACKARD, VMWARE SOFTWARE, CAPGEMINI, TECH MAHINDRA, COGNIZANT TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS, ADOBE SYSTEMS INDIA, TCS, ITC INFOTECH, HCL TECHNOLOGY etc. In terms of placement in 2020, it was really tough for all to proceed further. It’s tough for a University who wants to promote its student to get excellent placement. It’s tough for the companies also to take decision on the acquisition of excellent young talents. Thanks to the availability of advanced technologies, upgraded stuffs in LPU & since the students were well prepared by LPU to overcome any of the situations to achieve their final goal, Lovely Professional University managed to achieve excellent placement record as always by securing more than 7000 job offers, internships, training for its students. Last Year Placement record in LPU for B.Tech. CSE (Till Date – In spite of worlwide Pandemic Situation) • For 2020 - 21 session - Availed package is 31 LPA (CLOUDERA) – Placement Session is still LIVE • 42 LPA (Microsoft) was the highest salary package of the session of 2019-2020. • 92% students got placed till date instead of this pandemic situation. Hope this helps !!

** LPU is offering some of the most industry-recognized certifications in the market today which can validate student’s skills and experience to boost up their career and establish professional credibility worldwide. ** Students after clearing the certification may get the paid work opportunity with the school as Teaching Assistant for the courses. ** Every year one guided project with full support and assistance from industrial mentors and inhouse professional trainers will be executed by the students. Industry mentors will be allocated for project guidance for better learning opportunities Let me just mention some of the worthwhile features of School of Computer Science & Engineering of LPU, 1. The CSE dept. of LPU has various tie-ups with Google, Pega, VMWARE,AUTOMATION ANYWHERE, INFORMATICA, COMPUTING TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION (CompTIA) . The university has sate of the art labs with latest software to provide hands on practical exposure to students. 2. IITs and NITs are also appreciating campus wide facilities in terms of IT. 3. Online access to research journals, leading company annual reports and business dissertations with design analysis for ERP. 4. Design and Development of software and databases for data analysis. 5. Option to opt for industry relevant and industry delivered skills to enhance placement prospects. 6. Student driven activities for leadership and technological development 7. Software exhibitions on applications and research projects. 8. Back up and support by top companies for academics and curriculum like Microsoft, IBM, Cognizant etc. So with this upgraded academic course design, I believe It’s quite visible that, why LPU is miles ahead than it’s contemporary academic institutions & number one choice of the students. Dear student,

If we understand your question correctly, you want to become a Computer Engineer. If that is the case, then neither B. Sc or M. Sc will work. Ideally, you should do a B. Tech to become a Computer Engineer. And in order to get admission to a good college, you will need to appear for some of the engineering entrance exams in India (depending on the geography & college that you want to take admission in).
