College confusion : My son did well in 11th with 10 CGPA and doing well in 12th with subject Commerce and his target for future is IIM. Which college is better for him in India? We want to try Christ Bangalore. And the other is Nirma University Ahmedabad. Can he prepare CAT with B. Com there?

LPU NEST 2023 Application Form has been released via online mode. Exam Dates have been announced. It stands for Lovely Professional University National Eligibility and Scholarship Test. LPU NEST exam is conducted in different slots from January and April onwards. It is a university level entrance exam which is conducted for various courses including B.Tech, MBA etc. Candidates who want to get admission in Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes can enrol in the exam. LPU is currently accepting applications for the academic session 2023-24 for its MBA course and the LPUNEST application Current Schedule-I is open till Apr 10 and the entrance exam is held from Apr 1 to Apr 15. Candidates can apply and check in details through the official website. Further, the application for Current Schedule-II has been open from Apr 11 till Apr 20 ad the entrance exam is held Apr 16 to Apr 30. Lovely Professional University offers MBA, MBA (Hons) and a number of specialised MBA programmes in various specialisations via its Mittal School of Business. The MBA programme offered by LPU is approved by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. The duration of all the MBA programmes is two years, comprising four semesters/ eight terms.

Dear parent,

If you are interested in making your son study in IIM, then you have the following options:

1> Ensure that your son studies in a good Commerce college at UG level in these courses or similar - BBA, B. Com etc. (although students from all fields can appear for CAT). Studying BBA or B. Com will just help him stay levelled in the same field. 

2>Ensure that he starts preparing for CAT exam from the beginning of his Final year of gradaution. He may join coaching classes from reputed organisations like Career Launcher, TIMES, ALLEN etc.,

3> Solves as many sample test papers as possible - to be able to time himself better & also understand his weak areas, so that he can focus on them better

When you mentioned Christ University & Nirma University, do you mean that you want your son to do UG from here? The course curriculum will anyways be intense here. And he should start preparing from 3rd year onwards. Let him get used to the fundamentals of Commerce in the first 2 years of UG. And let him enjoy his college life. Don't burden him with so much pressure to perform. 

Alternatively, Nirma University and even IIM Indore offers an Integrated BBA-MBA programme for 5 years. You may want to consider this option as well, if you please! Good luck.
