CID or Criminal Investigation Department is a name given to special divisions of state police departments in India. Some of the branches that come under CID are:

• Crime Branch - CID

• Anti-Human Trafficking Cell

• Finger Print Bureau

• Anti-Terrorism Wing

These may or may not be active in every state. To be eligible for a career in CID, a candidate must at least be a graduate in any stream. Recruitment of officers in CID is done through the Indian Civil Services examination, which is held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
