Dear Student,

The maximum number of times a candidate is allowed to attempt the IAS exam depends on the category of the candidate.

  • For General/Unreserved Candidate: 6 attempts (or till 32 years of age is reached)

  • For OBC Candidate: 9 attempts (or till 35 years of age is reached)

  • For SC/ST Candidate: Unlimited (or till 37 years of age is reached)

You can check our UPSC Civil Services page for a comprehensive guide of the exam. It includes the exam pattern, syllabus, preparation tips, important dates and a lot of other information for an IAS aspirant.

Please feel free to write back to us if you have any other queries.

Thank you.
