Dear student,
You have too many questions!! let's try to answer them one by one.
You must know that the Caste Validity Certificate (CVC) is mandatory for SEBC (Socially and Educationally Backward Class) candidates to substantiate their claim for reservation in Maharashtra CET admissions for professional courses (Engineering, Medical, Law, Pharmacy, etc.).
The Maharashtra CET Cell’s official notification clearly state that your admission under the SEBC category could be cancelled and you might be converted to the Open category, if you fail to produce the CVC within the stipulated time.
You can apply for the CET exam and fill your category as SEBC even if you don't have the CVC at the time of application. Here's how:
~Apply for CET as SEBC: When filling out the online CET application form, select your category as SEBC. You will likely be asked to provide your Caste Certificate details.
~Apply for CVC: This is the most crucial step. If you don't have it, you need to apply for it as soon as possible with the respective District Caste Scrutiny Committee (DCSC). The process can take time.
~Produce Acknowledgement (if CVC is pending): During the Document Verification (DV) process for CET admissions (CAP Rounds), if you have applied for the CVC but haven't received it yet, you might be allowed to submit the Acknowledgement Receipt of your CVC application. This typically grants you provisional admission under your category.
~Submit CVC by Deadline: The Maharashtra CET Cell usually provides a deadline for submitting the actual Caste Validity Certificate to your admitted college. If you've been admitted provisionally based on an acknowledgement, you must submit the original CVC to the college within this deadline.
Yes, historically, the Maharashtra CET Cell has provided extensions for the submission of Caste Validity Certificates. Based on recent notices for the 2024-25 academic year, the Maharashtra CET Cell issued a formal reminder on May 9, 2025, granting an additional period of three months from a government decision dated May 2, 2025, for submission of the CVC.
This means the last date to submit your Caste Validity Certificate to your college was effectively August 1, 2025, for the academic year 2024-25. (Since today is July 3, 2025, this deadline is still relevant for ongoing admissions.)
Hope this helps!
