I want to know that maths is compulsory or not for actuarial Science

The only eligibility criteria to pursue Actuarial Science is that the candidate must have passed 12th or an equivalent exam with English as one of the main subjects at the 10+2 level. But it is expected that those who are working and have qualification in math and math related subjects should appear for the exam. It is preferable to have a Math/Finance or Commerce background as that can help in the actuarial studies but it is not compulsory.
