The District Institute of Education and Training Puducherry, is a co-educational institution. It was established in 1994 under the Society Registration Act No. 21 of 1860 of Puducherry. The institute primarily focuses on pre-service and in-service teacher training programmes for elementary school teachers. It also conducts research and offers consulting services in the field of education. The District Institute of Education and Training Puducherry is recognised by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
