How is the KCET rank determined for students who have appeared for the 2nd PUC Science exam?

Let's understand the marks calculation done through KCET. KCET rank is determined using a 50-50 normalisation process, where 50% weightage is given to the KCET 2025 score, and 50% weightage is given to the Karnataka 2nd PUC percentage.

  • Subjects Considered For Engineering are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM)
  • Subjects Considered For Medical/Pharmacy are Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB)

It is to be noted that English marks are not considered in the rank calculation. Let's say you’re applying for Engineering, and here’s an example that you have scored 120/180 in KCET and your PUC PCM total is 240 out of 300, then what will be your rank?

Your KCET Score (PCM) = 120/180 and 2nd PUC PCM Total = 240/300

Convert to Percentage:

  • KCET: (120 ÷ 180) × 100 = 66.67%
  • PUC PCM: (240 ÷ 300) × 100 = 80%

Final Rank Score has been evaluated below: = (66.67% × 0.5) + (80% × 0.5) = 33.34 + 40 = 73.34%

Your rank will be based on this combined percentage, and then a merit list is prepared accordingly for each category, i.e. GM, SC, ST, OBC, etc. Check the detailed analysis here - How to Calculate KCET Rank with Board Marks?
