UPSC Civil Services exam consists of the following papers:
Paper A (Prelims)
Its consist one of the Indian languages to be selected by the candidate from the languages included in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
It is a compulsory and qualifying paper and marks obtained in this paper are not used for ranking.
Maximum Marks: 300
Paper B (Mains):
It is a merit-based paper and consists of the following tests.
Paper I: Essay of 250 marks
Paper II: General Studies - Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography of the World and Society: 250 marks
Paper III: General Studies II - Governance, Constitution, Polity, Social Justice and International relations: 250 marks
Paper IV: General Studies III - Technology, Economic Development, Biodiversity, Environment, Security and Disaster Management: 250marks
Paper V: General Studies IV - Ethics, Integrity and Aptitude: 250 marks
Paper VI: Optional subjects - Paper 1: 250 marks
Paper VII: Optional subjects - Paper 2: 250 marks
The written test is followed by a Personality Test (Interview) of 275 marks.
