I scored 76 marks in the APRJC MPC CET exam, but I did not get a seat, whereas many students with marks lower than mine have been allotted seats. Why was I not allotted a seat?

Many factors could explain this situation:

  • Seats are reserved for different categories like SC, ST, and General (OC). Each category has its own cutoff. If you belong to a category with more competition or fewer reserved seats, your cutoff may be higher than for other categories. So, students from reserved categories with lower marks might get seats if their category cutoff is lower.
  • In minority colleges, a large percentage of seats are reserved for minority students, and their cutoffs can be different. Also, some colleges may have management quota seats, which are filled based on different criteria, sometimes not strictly by marks.
  • Seat allotment depends on your order of preferences for colleges and groups. If you chose only popular colleges or groups (like MPC in top colleges), the cutoff would be higher. Others with lower marks might have chosen less popular colleges or groups and got seats.
  • If you missed submitting a required document or did not attend counselling, your seat could be denied, even if you scored higher
