Dear Student,

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are specialised departments created under various State Police Departments. CID departments usually have specific roles and tackle certain section crimes. Some examples of CID are:

  • Crime Branch
  • Anti-Terrorism Wing
  • Anti-Human Trafficking etc.

CID officers are usually chosen from the respective police departments themselves and you will have to join the Indian Police Service to joint a CID.

Candidates are required to have completed their graduation in any stream and take the UPSC Civil Services exam for the same.

Please feel free to write back to us if you have any other queries.

Thank you.
