Dear Student,

A career as a Hydrologist in India is a great option after completing your B.Tech in Civil Engineering. However, to gain the necessary knowledge and skillset to pursue a career as a Hydrologist, you must first join a Master’s program in a related field such as Hydrology (M.Sc. Hydrology) or Water Resource Engineering. You can prepare and appear in the GATE examination to be eligible to join an M.Tech course in a top engineering college in India. IIT Roorkee, IIT Bombay, and IIT Madras are some of the leading colleges offering postgraduate courses in Hydrology and Water Resource Engineering. Following your Master’s degree you can join a PSU as a Hydrologist or further study to earn a Ph.D in the same field and gain specialization in the subject. We hope this information was helpful to you.

All the best!
