Compared to growth in crimes in India, there is huge gap for efficient forensic experts. Due to this gap, there is a high demand for Forensic Experts and the career prospects are high currently. Lack of awareness about the course is another reason for the demand of forensic experts high in the market.Though there are lots of universities that are catering to this demand and being an alumni of LPU let me explain the things in detail. The Forensic Science domain promises to create a research and placement oriented environment. The department regularly works on student research projects with novel ideas of applied value. : Highly experienced faculty excellent in terms of their educational background, research and teaching. Academic tasks such Class Participation, Design Problem, Term Paper, Assignment, Live examples, AV-aids. Test and Quiz based on various competitive examinations, Case studies on Current research scenario, moot court sessions and CSI activities. The lab facilities include Centrifugation Facilities, Advanced Microscopy (COMPARISON MICROSCOPE) and Spectroscopy. The labs in the university has following highlights:- 1. At the Department, we have state of the art centrifugal systems, capable of separating important biomolecules like DNA, Protein and other cellular components to analyze different evidences such as blood recovered from a crime scene. 2. At the Department, we have state of the art facilities of different types of microscopes which can not only help in native visualizations, and analysis via a real time connection with a computer. 3. At the Department, we have state of the art Spectroscopic systems, including UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer [FTIR], interfaced with computer to carry out the sensitive measurements LPU ranks amongst the Top 200 universities of the world as per the prestigious ‘Times Higher Education Impact Rankings’ 2021, which assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2021 rankings, only three Indian universities have made to the list of ‘Top 200 in the World’. LPU has outshined various institutions like IITs, NITs, state and central universities across India and has ranked high on parameters of Affordable and Clean Energy, and Decent Work and Economic Growth.

The field of forensic science in India has superior scope for development. It is one among the few careers which pays well even in a dull economy. Students with basic degrees in chemistry, biology or physics can opt for a master's degree in this field. The field of forensic sciences has an abundance of opportunities for those who are keenly interested in criminal investigation, science and legal matters. The Indian government has been taking robust steps to promote forensic science to improve its applicability in modern day criminology. At the beginning of 2020, the government passed the National Forensic Sciences University bill. It believes that strengthening the study of forensic sciences and criminology play a crucial role in cracking criminal investigations and bringing down crime rates. Here is a brief list of careers one can consider taking up in India and the agencies that hire forensic experts: 1. Forensic Ballistics Expert 2. Bloodstain Pattern Analyst 3. Forensic DNA Analyst 4. Forensic Toxicologist 5. Digital Forensic Expert 6. Forensic Legal Expert 7. Crime scene Investigator 8. Forensic engineer 9. Forensics document examiner 10. Forensic Psychologist/Anthropologist However, one needs to be very careful with the choice of the university as that would build way to an effective career. There are many universities that are offering this course and LPU being one of them. Let me explain the curriculum as that would give you the clarity about the course. The Forensic Science domain promises to create a research and placement oriented environment. Forensic science is really a science that helps to collect certain diminutive evidences for instance blood, semen, sweat and pubic hairs, body hairs or finger prints on door or wooden cart etc. Forensic investigators apply certain tools and techniques to find those finer details to present before court and re-create the whole crime scene. It is indeed a very interesting career and has a lot of explorations. The scope of forensic science study is vast. You can get jobs in various governments & private sectors. The study will improve your skills and knowledge. You also may employ in Forensic Laboratories, Detective Offices, Banks and other Govt. and private agencies. Top 5 Highest Paying Forensic Science Careers 1. Forensic Medical Examiner. Perhaps the highest paying position in the field of forensic science is forensic medical examiner. 2. Forensic Engineer. 3. Forensic Accountant. 4. Crime Scene Investigator. 5. Crime Laboratory Analyst. Prospects of forensic science lie in the job outlook and salary potential for the career. The Bureau of Labour Statistics provided an estimate of 14 percent job growth through 2028. While the average salary was Rs.63,170, the BLS mentioned that the highest-paid forensic scientists made over Rs.97,350 in May 2019. This is a selective course and only those with a serious intent prefers opting a career in it. There are few universities who provide a fruitful higher education in it which also complements with fair placements in this regard. I found the curriculum and course design of LPU quite promising. Details can be checked by www.lpu.in
