  • Plant Ecology and Phytogeography (geographical distribution of plants and spatial relationships)
  • Diversity of Archegoniates and Plant Anatomy (plants with archegonium structures and anatomical features including tissue systems and meristems)
  • Diversity of Microbes and Cryptogams (Thallophyta), including Algae, Fungi, and Bryophytes, Viruses, and basic plant cell biology
  • Basics of Microbiology, Phycology, and Cell Biology concepts related to plants
  • Practical Lab classes may include flower dissection, study of ovules, types of fruits, inflorescences, and identification of algae, fungi, bryophytes, and pteridophytes
