What is the Calcutta University admission process for PhD programme?

Dear aspirant…… I have no idea regarding admission process for PhD at this institute. Research Scholars studying in Post-Graduation can apply for LPUNEST (Ph.D.). From the outset of the LPUNEST (Ph.D.) numerous aspirants have been appearing in the LPUNEST exam every year. LPUNEST (Ph.D.) provides an extensive opportunity to the aspirants who wish to join Ph.D. programme at LPU and pursue their careers in the direction of research. The purview of this exam is to identify Ph.D. aspirants that have the potential to engage in ground-breaking research and inspire future generations. LPUNEST (Ph.D.) provides a gateway to all Ph.D. programmes in LPU and will act as an Entrance test for admission to Ph.D. Programmes at LPU. This test has twofold advantage as it will act as Entrance Test as well as Scholarship Test. Besides this you must have required score in post graduation in the relevant stream, and will have to appear for an interview Applicant can get exemption from LPUNEST (Ph.D.)) if he/she has valid result score in UGC (NET/ JRF)/ CSIR (NET/ JRF)/ ICAR (JRF/ SRF) examination/ SLET (Punjab only)/ GATE/ GPAT/ ICAR (NET), Teacher Fellowship holder or passed M.Phil. Programme (in Regular mode only). But the candidate can appear for test LPUNEST (Ph.D.) in order to avail the scholarship. With a valid result score in these national tests exemption is for LPUNEST (Ph.D.) only but the applicant will have to fill the LPUNEST (Ph.D.) form and appear for the Interview. The result of scholarship for Ph.D. applicants is declared along with the Ph.D. Interview results. At LPU, one can get benefitted from any of these scholarships : Minimum 30% scholarship to full time Male Candidate For Female Candidate - 50% for full time and 30% Scholarship part time All Academicians– 50% For Full Time & 30% part time (Each year (for maximum upto 3.5 years) scholar needs to provide the continuation proof of job failing of which, the scholarship can be terminated). LPU Alumni is given 10% additional scholarship in Ph.D programme with a condition that the scholarship cannot exceed the maximum scholarship slab (i.e 90% in case of Full Time and 70% in case of part Time). LPU Research Fellowship and Scholarship as per the score in LPUNEST/ listed National Level Tests. You can apply online for a PhD. Programme at https://admission.lpu.in/ and no need to visit campus personally for application purpose. Extensive Scholarship: LPU envisages unsharring in an era of accessible and affordable quality higher education for the youth of our country on the basis of scores in LPUNEST (Ph.D.). Individuals who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC regulations are exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment/ appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.

Dear Sarthi Shukla, 

Students aspiring for admission to the Calcutta University PhD programme should apply in the prescribed proforma along with Rs 100 paid through a challan to any cash counters of the university. The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written MCQ test of one-hour duration which is known as the Research Eligibility Test (RET). Candidates who qualify for the written test will have to face an interview for the final selection required for University of Calcutta admission. A minimum mark in the written test for eligibility in the interview is 50%.
