I have completed a Diploma in Engineering in the Electrical Engineering Branch. I want to take admission to BTech Mechanical Engineering at UPES? What will be the process for lateral entry?

If you are seeking lateral entry admission to the Bachelor of Technology (BTech) course at the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, you need the satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

• You must have completed a Diploma course in Engineering of at least 3 years duration from a recognized State Board of Technical Education.
• You must have completed Class 10th (SSC) from a recognized board with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in Science and Maths subjects.

If you meet the above conditions, you will be eligible for direct entry to the 3rd semester of BTech at UPES. The lateral entry admission process is as follows.

• The university will release the notification of the number of vacant seats and invite applications.
• Eligible candidates must fill the application forms for lateral entry admissions at UPES within the specified deadline.
• The candidates will be required to appear for a written test and personal interview at the university for final selection. The following weightage has been specified by the university for the selection process:
  • Written Test: 80% weightage
  • Personal Interview: 20% weightage
• Selected candidates will have to complete all of the admission formalities and confirm their admission.

Please note that change of branch is not allowed during Lateral Entry admission at UPES. You will only be eligible to a BTech branch of UPES that is relevant to your Diploma stream.
