B.pharma or biotechnology : Sir i have a question....After 12 which is best for me bio technology or b pharma ??

- AdminUpdated On November 03, 2023 12:22 PM

Both the programs are best. But they have different focuses. B. pharma is more traditional program while biotechnology is more cutting edge program that focus on the development of new biological technologies. Apart from that teachers are very helpful by nature and try to solve the problem of the students. Classes are not to much crowded. So it depends upon your carrier and goal and most important your interest In which program you have more interest opt only that. Before choosing any program must check the eligibility of the program. LPU offers various types of scholarship for the student I will advice you first check the eligibility of the program from LPU website then decide. For more detail check LPU website .

I will strive to maintain objectivity in this response. Both courses have their merits, but in my opinion, biotechnology is the superior choice. Here are some key points about the 4-year B.tech Biotechnology program at LPU:- All the instructors possess at least a master's degree, with a mix of experienced and newer faculty members. However, some of the newer instructors may struggle to effectively convey their knowledge, leading to miscommunication between them and the students. - Despite this, all teachers are naturally helpful and make an effort to address any personal or professional issues faced by the students. The class sizes are manageable, allowing teachers to focus on weaker students and provide them with the necessary support. - The university provides good facilities, although there is a policy in place that turns off the air conditioning even in hot weather conditions. This policy is strictly enforced by the university. - In terms of practical experience, the program is rated as average. Some practicals generate interest in the subject matter, while others may have the opposite effect. To enhance research capabilities, the labs require modern equipment. - Regarding placements, this year witnessed the arrival of numerous companies offering decent packages. However, there were also companies that offered less attractive packages. These companies spanned various sectors, including core, sales, and non-core. LPU adequately prepares its students for placements by incorporating pre-placement classes into the curriculum, equipping students with the necessary skills for the corporate world. I hope this helps. Thank you.

If you are looking for best university for B.Sc in biotechnology course,I would say Lovely professional University is best university. The curriculum has been designed in such a way that it makes it easier for the students to prepare themselves for giant exams like CSIR-NET, ICMR, ICAR, and GATE. With an experienced faculty of 30+ in the department who arw ready to help the students round the clock, seven days a week, this institute is one of the best options for the young population to opt for biotechnology. In addition to core curricula, course offers subjects like communication and soft skills to enhance personality and employability. She said, specializations may be offered in Dairy Technology or Fermentation Technology or Molecular Biotechnology (subject to minimum number of students and feasibility) The course offers specializations in Dairy Technology, Fermentation Technology and Bioinformatics. The curriculum offers prime focus on fundamental and applied aspects of biotechnology.Students can get a foreign degree through international collaborations (2 year in India and 2 years abroad or 2 year in India and 1 year abroad) Few points told by my known who did her studies from LPU that will help you to make your decision: LPU School of Bioengineering and Biosciences is equipped with state-of-the-art Bioprocess Engineering and Bioscience labs and believes in imparting knowledge to students through a practical approach to achieve mastery in plant and animal physiology.

I will try to be as much unbiased as i can in this answer. Both the courses are good at there places but in my opinion biotechnology is better. Here are some points of 4 year B.tech Biotechnology in LPU: All the teachers who taught us have atleast a master's degree. Some experienced, some nascent. Some nascent ones are not able to explain themselves or their subjects properly to the students resulting in mis-communication between the two. Apart from that, all teachers are helpful by nature and try to solve a student issues, whether it is personal or professional. Classes are not crowded due to which teachers can work on the weak students. Facilities provided by university is good, except when AC's are turned off even if the temperature outside is hot. This is due to LPU's policy and university never allows anyone to violate the policy. Coming to practical part, i would rate it average. The reason being, some practicals increase your interest in the subject and some do vice versa. Some (modern) equipments are required in Labs to progress the level of research in LPU. Now the placement part: This year, i saw many companies coming with decent package while some companies with not so decent package. Some were of core, some of sales and non- core. LPU prepares well its students for placements which includes having pre-placement classes in the time table to teach students skills required in the corporate world.

Both options are good at LPU, but you need to find out your interest and liking. If select B. Pharma you need to be good at Chemistry specially organic chemistry. If you opt for Biotechnology you should have interest in technology and you should good at physics, maths & have interest in machinery. You can go for career assessment available on LPU website.

Both the fields are almost equal in terms of their scope because they are co related to each other. In India at present the market for the medicine sector is very good and you can expect good jobs after completing B.pharmacy from a good and reputed college. Both options are good, but you need to find out your interest and liking. If select B. Pharma you need to be good at Chemistry specially organic chemistry. If you opt for Biotechnology you should have interest in technology and you should good at physics, maths & have interest in machinery. Both options are open for you and good from career point of view. Of course after B pharm you have a wide scope. Starting from a basic 9 to 6 job at a retail pharmacy store to becoming a CEO of your company. Depends how hard and intelligently work in the field. But biotechnology has comparatively more chances and wider scope in India as well as abroad. If you're passionate about biology/biotechnology, then this shouldn't stop you. In western countries like Canada,USA they have such a great healthcare sector which opens up opportunity for new invention. In such developed countries these courses are provided to the most talented minds. As far as the B Pharm. programme is concernend, it is an undergraduate four years course (approved by PCI) which is a prerequisite for registration to practice as a pharmacist. It imparts skills to work in industry, clinical setups, drug control organizations, education and research sectors in pharmaceuticals. Two students of the university got placed in Freyer Solutions while two others got shortlisted in GlaxoSmithkline. Others got placed with top brands including Abbott, VLCC healthcare, Nestle, Cadila, Ravenbhel, Max Super Speciality Hospitals, Dr Lal Path Labs etc. LPUs biotech is an Engineering program that seamlessly articulates the concepts from basic science to technology with relevant practice through labs and projects on biotechnology for building the problem-solving skills, keeping industry requirements in place. LPU School of Bioengineering and Biosciences is equipped with state-of-the-art Bioprocess Engineering and Bioscience labs and believes in imparting knowledge to students through a practical approach to achieve mastery in plant and animal physiology. The faculty works hard tirelessly in enabling students with an acumen to apply the findings of Biosciences in the fields of medicine, forensics, nutrition, and dietetics for the benefit of the community. The eligibility is Pass with 60% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with Physics, Chemistry, English and Mathematics or Biology or Biotechnology) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST. B.Tech Biotech students have a vast scope as they can work in sectors of pharmaceuticals, agriculture, healthcare, food processing, nutrition, animal science, and environmental conservation. Not in terms of opportunities, even salary packages of biotechnology professionals are lucrative

So biotechnology is a good branch although not best in India but you must be proud that you are dealing with some real-life problem. In spite of all this field is growing in rapid manner in India now a days and after a bunch of years span there is a possible chance that India might be a leading bio-tech country. These are some of the career options : Job in R&D: If you are not interested in going for PhD, you can go for R&D jobs in companies like Biocon, Dr. Reddy's, Strand Life Sciences and other such Biotech companies. But the bitter truth is that freshers with Masters degree remain underpaid. Academics: If you have passion for teaching, you can opt for this option. This job is particularly good if you look for better work-life balance and offers job satisfaction of being a mentor for so many aspiring students. If you ask me both are equally good in their own standards, but being a biotechnology student I prefer biotechnology (even I considered B Pharm after my 12th but stayed with biotechnology) All the best for your future:)

In the present scenario the field of biotechnology is rampantly growing. The biotechnology industry is witnessing good growth in the stream of medicinal research, drug analysis, recycling and re-harvesting of used and exploited products, synthetic management, cosmetology medical equipment enhancement, etc. India will have a competitive advantage in the industry since it is knowledge-intensive. I would recommend B.Tech in Biotechnology over B.Sc in Biotechnology, as an engineering course will offer more variance of subjects that are practical and advanced and is a need of time. Whereas a B.Sc have vocational course only A bio-technologist, depending on the area of specialization, can find jobs in biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies or in chemical, agricultural, and allied industries. Research institutes and laboratories provide good job opportunities for those with M.Tech. along with a Ph.D. degrees. There are multiple career options both in industry and academia. The jobs that are opened for a B.Tech Biotech are Quality Analyst, Research Analyst, Technician, Biotechnologist, etc. Teaching is also an option opened for them. Study of, and employment in, biotechnology is research-oriented. You can do biotechnology related courses from: University of Hyderabad-School of Life Sciences, University of Mumbai-Institute of Chemical Technology, National Dairy Research Institute Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology Lovely Professional University Delhi Technological University-Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology-Department of Biochemical Engineering & Biotechnology, Delhi University Banaras Hindu University Jawaharlal Nehru University Aligarh Muslim University of Mumbai VIT, BITS.
