Can a Bcom graduate do a PG nutritionist course?

B.Sc. In Nutrition and Dietetics which will you in Constructing strong basic foundation in concepts of nutrition and diet plan, thus crafting skillful and notion ready nutritional experts for addressing the health challenges. If you have an inborn interest in cooking and exploring various cuisines from different countries, nutrition and dietetics is one subject which will help you explore how to design controlled diets. Based on the body mass index, you can design your own food charts that would summarize the quantity of fats, carbohydrates, and proteins which must be consumed everyday. For a career, initially, this may be a low paying job. But once you have picked up and gained experience, there is a lot of scope and you may earn quite well and travel abroad as well. As a career, hotels, cruise lines, hospitals, nursing homes and government health departments recruit nutrition and dietetics professionals for a good salary. If you join a shipping company such as Shell, Maersk or their subsidiary companies that run tourist ships along with logistics and oil etc. , you would get the opportunity to travel to several countries situated along the shorelines. I am not much aware about Nutrition and dietetics course, But my friend has done this course and she is currently placed in Nestle, through Campus placement. Candidate can also opt for a foreign degree through international collaborations (2 year in India and 2 years abroad or 2 year in India and 1 year abroad). Students are exposed to Community to know about the extension education and community nutrition. Students are also engaged in hospital for internship as dietitian to learn about the patients counseling techniques and report analysis. For a career, initially, you might face low paying job. But once you have picked up and gained experience, there is a lot of scope and you may earn quite well and travel abroad as a hospitals, nursing homes,career, hotels, cruise lines, and government health departments recruit nutrition and dietetics professionals at very good pay scale. Let me give you the real picture, a PG course in Nutrition demands a base of science. The eligibility for this course is 60% (Bachelor's of Science degree with (Nutrition & Dietetics/ Home Sc./ Med / Non-Med / Bio-Sc. / Medical Science & Allied Medical/ Food Tech./ Veterinary Microbiology & Parasitology/ Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology/ Clinical Chemistry/ Public Health & Allied Sciences)). However ith a BCom graduation you have a wide variety of choices. Like After Bcom, you can enter into different streams with this degree. You can get into banking, civil services, MBA, law, designing/merchandising, M Com, finance, economics many more. However, if you want to foray into management, a BBA followed by an MBA from a reputed college is the right career path for you. If you want to pursue Professional courses (Such as CA, CS or CWA), it is recommended to take up B.com, as they both have a lot of syllabus in common. Also, the college timings (Of B.com) will be convenient for you to take up heavy tuitions for these professional courses.

To pursue a postgraduate Diploma or degree course in Nutrition and Dietetics, you must hold a relevant bachelor's degree.
