To be able to get admission into the CAT participating colleges, students first need to qualify for the exam with a good percentile and then appear for the counselling process. Some IIMs conduct centralized admissions based on CAT scores, known as the Common Admission Process (CAP). The eligibility criteria for selection into CAT 2023 participating colleges include a bachelor's degree from a recognized body with a minimum of 50% marks and a valid scorecard of the CAT exam. Some MBA colleges begin their application process for MBA admissions before the CAT exam has been conducted.

Firstly, aspirants must prepare a list of the colleges that they have shortlisted for MBA admission. Candidates must also make sure that they choose the colleges in accordance with other factors like their CAT percentile score, their academic background, and their financial background.
Then, aspirants must visit the official website of the colleges to learn about various aspects like application start date, MBA/PGDM course fees, and course specializations offered by a particular college.
Candidates are advised to apply to at least 2-3 colleges of each percentile range so that they do not face any difficulty once the CAT result is declared and are able to continue their MBA admission process without any hassles.
Typically the application form for MBA admissions at a particular institute is advertised on the homepage of a B-school. Aspirants can fill out the application form available on the official website of the college or they can also fill out CollegeDekho’s Common Application Form in order to apply for admission at these MBA colleges.

Participating colleges of CAT 2023 are free to define their own CAT selection process for management admissions. Check the selection process of CAP 2023 participating colleges given below.
Candidates can apply to all of the IIMs through the CAT 2023 Application Form.

Shortlisted candidates then have to appear for the WAT and PI round of IIMs.
IIMs calculate the composite score based on the overall performance of candidates.
The rest of the IIMs send a list of shortlisting candidates to the IIM organizing CAP.
Candidates are called for CAP 2024 at a common test center for WAT & PI.
CAP 2024 scores are sent to individual IIMs.
IIMs make the final decision on the selection of candidates independently.

IIMs have made it mandatory for non-IIM colleges to register as CAT participating colleges to accept CAT scores for admissions. Colleges have to sign an MoU from the CAT conducting IIM and complete the registration form to become a CAT participating college.

Yes, there will be a separate cutoff for all the CAT participating colleges. The cutoffs of all the participating colleges are released after the declaration of the CAT result and vary every year. Students who meet the cutoff of their desired colleges will be considered for the selection rounds.
You can apply for admission in CAT participating colleges by filling out the application form of the respective college. If you meet the CAT cutoff set by the desired college and perform well in the selection rounds, then you will be considered for the final admission.
Some of the CAT participating colleges other than IIMs are National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai, Loyola Institute of Business Administration, Chennai, Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, IBS Hyderabad, etc.
IIMs will select the candidates on the basis of their performance in CAT, personal interview, and written ability test. IIMs will also consider the work experience of candidates while preparing the selection list. Some IIMs conduct centralized admissions based on CAT scores, known as the Common Admission Process (CAP). However, not all IIMs participate in CAP and some choose to conduct their selections independently.

There are 20 IIMs and other top CAT MBA colleges in the non-IIM category that accept CAT exam scores as part of their MBA admission criteria. These include, among others, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai, SJMSoM IIT Mumbai, and DoMS IIT Delhi.
Each IIM accepts CAT scores before moving further with the application procedure. Therefore, there is no likelihood of being admitted directly into any IIM without taking the CAT for an MBA. Several online certificates and diploma programs are offered by IIMs, including IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, and IIM Indore, where CAT results are not required for admission. Through the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Test (JIPMAT), administered by the National Testing Agency, IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya admit students to respective IPMs (NTA). IIM Rohtak and IIM Indore are additional IIMs with integrated programs.
