Top B-schools of the country such as IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A), IIM Indore, IIM Lucknow, IIM Bangalore, XLRI Jamshedpur, IIFT Delhi are planning to start a joint placement committee, something very similar to the All IIT Placement Committee (AIPC).
The discussion regarding the establishment of a joint placement committee was done at Maitri - the annual conference of placement committee members which was organised at IIFT Delhi this year. Various agendas such as sharing recruiter experiences, generating more employment opportunities and elaborating on best practices among the top b-schools were also discussed during the conference.
During the annual meet, most of the discussions revolved around topics such as how to deal with recruiters and companies who do not keep their word, ultimately leading to a disadvantage in the final placement process for students. The institutes also discussed the ways to prevent such cases in future.
The main agenda of Maitri 2018 was to discuss the establishment of All India B-School Placement Committee which will have the same outlook and aim as the AlPC. The B-schools will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the same. The collaborations between the B-schools will work towards improving the overall efficiency of the recruitment process and provide students with relevant job opportunities.
The joint placement committee will share the best practices as well as placement process challenges faced by them and the ways to prevent them.
